release 3.10.0 Build 3115 - Temperatures incorrect

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

release 3.10.0 Build 3115 - Temperatures incorrect

Post by water01 »

I did not try all the Beta builds but when I tried them prior to the release and they seemed fine.

So installed the final release and my temperatures went nuts. By this I mean they increased from 6.7C to 43.7C an increase of 37 degrees.

I thought at first it was fineoffset spike but the fineoffset console was showing the correct temperature, but CumulusMX was consistently showing temperatures 37 degrees higher.

I stopped the service and restored last nights backup files and 3107 and all returned to normal. You can see what happened at https://www.dmjsystems.co.uk/weatherbos ... recent.php

I think there maybe a problem, unless you can suggest anything Mark.

One other point, the upload of realtime.txt stopped and when I looked in the Admin Console my ticks had disappeared in both produce it and ftp it.

hmm, just did a compare of the FineOffset code from b3107 to b3115 and there are no changes relating to temperature I can see.

That temperature difference though looks like MX was set to report Fahrenheit rather than Celsius. 6.7 C = 44 F

I have always been C and I did quickly check that and it said C.

The .ini settings went back ok in the previous release very strange.

Edit Just checked the .ini file and

Code: Select all

WindUnit=1
PressureUnit=0
RainUnit=1
TempUnit=0
and 0 = Centigrade? Puzzled rest all OK

But I have found the problem! It is the temp conversion code. I'll get a fix out asap.

Updated 3.10.1 is now online. How that was not picked up in beta testing I have no idea! But it does only affect certain combinations of temperature and rain units. :bash:

Thanks Mark loaded and all fixed. I must admit here that I should have loaded the last few Betas but I tried the first 1 or 2 and they looked fine and I was busy playing at upgrading another phpBB forum for which I had to set up a complete Apache server + PHP and MySQL to test it, so I took my eye off the ball.
My apologies.

Phew,

I had the same issue, backed out to 3107 and decided to raise the issue this morning. I have happily been beaten to it 👍

good find David, :clap:

Shows just how easy a bug can creep into a build, go unnoticed, until someone with the right criteria in settings/config/hardware finds it.

If you used C & mm, or F & inches = no issue. C & inches, or F & mm = no worky!
