Methinks 'twould be wise to start a topic on template queries / requests that not part of 'mx' code problems ?

Hi Mark
Browsers are Edge and Chrome on my tablet. 1200 wide by 1920 high.
On my notebook pc not tablet, in Windows 10, if I reduce the browser size from full screen downwards gradually,
it comes to a point where the menu disappears.

Hi.
I've got the new default site running on my Windows 10 desktop using both Chrome & Edge. I can successfully reduce the size of the window and the menu jumps down to the hamburger on the right every time. The hamburger appears on medium screens as well as small screens so please check on the right hand edge. Otherwise can you send me a link so that I can check what's happening on your site.
If you have edited the menu you may have deleted the hamburger entry by mistake. It is the last entry on the main menu and has to be there.

Hi Mark
Yes there is a Zoom feature for text, however it does not change the menu bar when I make the font smallest or largest, still not visible.
The Cumulus MX interface pages menu bar wraps around on my tablet.
When I make the font small, the BBC website shows more items on the menu bar wih the last item is 'more' with a down arrow at the end.
Hi.
The menu design has just two modes - full screen (wider than 980px) and small screen ( less than 980px). This is traditionally classed as medium and is used because the menu is already quite long. It does not do the BBC (and other sites option) of providing a 'more' dropdown on medium screens as this would make manipulating the menu more difficult (but not impossible) to do.
The size of the font should not change significantly when making the screen smaller - that is one of the fundamental aspects of responsive sites - the font remains legible on all devices.
If you have edited the menu then there will be some wrap-around if you have added more than two or three additional options but this should not stop the hamburger appearing on medium screens or below. The only possible issue in this scenario would be if you have inadvertently deleted the hamburger entry on the main menu and/or copied the main-menu entries to the mobile menu.
1 - Check that you have the hamburger menu option at the end of the main menu. Its the bottom line in th image below.
Screenshot 2021-02-28 at 09.13.50.png
2 - Check that the mobile menu does NOT contain any class 'w3-hide-small' or 'w3-hide-medium'. If it does, you have copied the main menu into the mobile menu area.
I can certainly look at changing the menu for future releases to enable users to add even more to it but, as you will appreciate, it is quite a big learning curve for those jumping from a non-responsive site to one that is responsive already.

My Current Conditions is blank as well - it seems looking at a previous post this has to be manually entered in the Admin Interface.
As I am not going to be editing this every time there is a change in current conditions how about a "Display Current Conditions yes/no" toggle ?
https://longsuttonweather.co.uk
For the moment I have added "To see current conditions, please view my Webcam"
Hi.
If you don't want to display 'current conditions' then edit the index.htm page and add change the last row to:
<tr class="w3-hide">
<td colspan="7">Current conditions:</td>
</tr>
This will hide the entire row of the table.

Anybody else seeing this sort of behaviour?
As in, it doesn't all fit on one screen?
Yes, I commented on that earlier about the gauges.
This is a window that's 1468x1000 and I have to scroll down to see everything, on the old page, all the gauges were visible without having to scroll. I've edited this to 500 wide just so it's not a huge image on the screen.
Here's my now page, same at 1468x1000 (but resized down) where again, you have to scroll to see everything.
You can also see on my gauges page that the Welcome to text is missing. To be honest, I'd quite happily do without that on any of the pages really.

Hi.
Re the 'Welcome...' panel. This is easily removed if not required. Locate the panel as shown below and add "
class='w3-hide'" to the line highlighted below:
Screenshot 2021-02-28 at 10.10.07.png
This will hide the contents of that panel. If you just want the 'Welcome heading to go, add 'w3-hide' to the '<h3>' element. I do not recommend deleting that block as it would be possible to corrupt the display if not done correctly. If you want to hide anything on the new system, you can always use this class anywhere. I would recommend starting with the actual text you want hidden and then working outwards until the required block is hidden.
Re the gauges page: I am working on alternatives as you can either see the 'Units' panel on the side but not all gauges or the units panel goes to the bottom and I put 4 gauges to a row. There are numerous alternative layouts including having smaller gauges and 5 columns - its just a design choice at this stage. If there is sufficient demand I could create a bank of page layouts for the gauges page but that will take time to implement.

At this stage I'm still on 3107, but have put the new site here...
http://weather.inverellit.com/new/index.htm
Not geting any data showing though.
Added an Extra web file that I thought should make it work but I get an error in Dev tools
Code: Select all
\CumulusMX\web\websitedataT.json
/public_html/weather/new/websitedata.json
Code: Select all
setpagedata.js:149
Data Request Failed: parsererror, SyntaxError: Unexpected token h in JSON at position 381
Should this work or will it fail while I'm still on the previous version?
Thanks
Phil.

The forum and webcam parameters are not having the inner quotes 'escaped'
Code: Select all
"forum":":<a href="https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/index.php">forum</a>:",
"forumurl":"",
"webcam":":<a href="http://weather.inverellit.com/webcams.htm">webcam</a>:",
"webcamurl":"",
// should be ..

"webcam":":<a href=\"http://weather.inverellit.com/webcams.htm\">webcam</a>:",

That's because it is a v3.10.x file that was not processed with v3.10.x which does escape them.

Hi all
As promised I have created a NOAA reports page to fit in with the existing templates. You can see it in action on my 'default templates pages' on
https://oaktreewebs.co.uk/data/mx-templ ... report.htm. You can also download it from there. It includes a 'readme' file to help. You will need to edit your Menu to include the new page.
It makes some assumptions - that you upload your reports to your root folder and that you use the default naming format. If you don't, you will need to do some editing.
I also now have some framework templates for those of you that don't want the sidebar. These will be available sometime this week. I also intend to generate a complete set of full templates based on them that can just replace the existing default templates. These do include some changes to the menu to prevent it splitting into two lines for this of you that have added several extra links.

you might want to add .co.uk to that url first.

Oops. Now corrected.
Just noticed another issue: The javascript at the bottom of the page is slightly wrong - it selects last March rather than this month. The code have now been corrected.
While fixing this I corrected a number of other errors and modified the report menu so that on small screens it reverts to a centre aligned mobile menu. The zip file has now been updated and is now correct. If you have already downloaded it, my apologies, please download the latest version from the same location.
