Feature request - UV and Solar Radiation

Post by Gordon-Loomberah »

Hi Steve, now I'm up and running with my VP2, what are the chances of being able to graph the UV and solar radiation data, on the display and for upload to the net?

thanks, Gordon

Sure, now that you have a VP2 weather station you 'expect' Steve to redesign Cumulus to meet your needs...

The availability of ET (evapotranspiration), UV index, solar radiation, battery voltage, etc. is already available...

Have a look at this Cumulus Wiki page: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/index.php?title=Webtags ;)

Most of that information could be created into graphs that you can use on your website.

Example:

The Solar and UV Readings chart was collected from Cumulus and graphed.

Yes I realise they are there, I can see them displayed... but not as a graph.

I was hoping they could be part of the standard block of graphs, to have a nice consistent appearance, but I'll investigate TNETWeather's info.

thanks, Gordon

It's just one of the many features that I'll add to Cumulus when I employ those infinite number of monkeys that I've been looking out for.

Steve, if you move onto my Island I will work with you ... not as a monkey thought ... and I do not think that with hundreds of monkeys you will be able to add new gauges to Cumulus...

Looking at the log files and help info, it seems UV and Solar Radiation are not logged, so the only way to get that info is by reading realtime.txt every time a new one is produced, is that correct? Unfortunately I have no idea how I might go about doing that.

I am wanting to plot solar radiation for comparison with my solar panel output, but its looking increasingly difficult to do :?

More than a year ago, I created a system that collects the realtime.txt data and stores it into a realtime.log file which can then be used for a number of things including charting data that is not normally available.

The Cumulus JpGraph Charts system that I built uses that logging.

If you have access to crontabs or can do scheduling via an alternative method you should be able to use this method.

More info can be found on my Cumulus Project page:

http://www.tnetweather.com/cumulus.php

That was how I was able to build a system like below pretty much using the data generated from the realtime.txt data from Cumulus.

I was hoping to be able to do this on my laptop, as here is really where I wanted the data, rather than uploading files to process it then downloading again.
I'm not sure if the web server meets all the requirements, but hopefully I'll be able to find out without too much difficulty.

thanks, Gordon
