Rollover failure

Post by dionaea »

Over the last couple of weeks I have had various problems with Cumulus -an inexplicable pressure rise from 1033 - 1046 in a matter of about 6 hours then about 70mm of rainfall at 500+ mm / hour. With Dave's (Laindon Weather) help I sorted these out and all seemed to be fine again, when at midnight last night rollover failed. If you look at my website it shows 5.4 mm today - now I know that 4.7 mm rain fell last evening before midnight - look at trends, - the times are all out. The graphs are showing yesterday's (16/12/'09) data. Cumulus is showing 17th December Also in View/This Month /December the monthly rainfall for December is 29.8mm & it doesnt seem to have updated since the 9th or 10th December. What have I done?? Any ideas please.

Cheers,
Chris

I don't think those are problems with Cumulus; I think those are problems with your weather station.
when at midnight last night rollover failed.
Please zip up your diags folder and attach it here.

This is normally a problem in dayfile.txt due to manually editing the file and leaving a blank line etc in it. If the problem isn't obvious, attach it here and I'll take a look.

Hi Steve,
We came to the conclusion - right or wrong that it might have been the USB plug on the weather console - it seemed a bit loose. Have attached the files you asked for. I have looked at the dayfile but can't see anything obvious - that means nothing however.

Cheers,
Chris

Just spotted 3 rows of entries for the 13th. Can't understand that - I certainly didn't do it! Sorry - forget that - it was 13/02/'09

Your rollover failure is because you got the infamous I/O error 32 when trying to write the dayfile.txt:

2009-12-17 00:00:00 : Error writing Dayfile: I/O error 32

I/O error 32 is a "sharing violation", which means that something else is stopping Cumulus writing the file, possibly anti-virus, possibly something else, and just possibly Cumulus itself; but if it is Cumulus itself I have never been able to find out how that could possibly happen. Do you have something that runs at midnight that might be stopping Cumulus accessing the file?

Your error in dayfile.txt that is causing an incomplete 'This Month' is that your max pressure on 10/12 is "1033.9.0".

Probably due to one of the rollover problems in an earlier version of Cumulus.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for that. I have corrected the updating of the monthly rainfall & that is now fine. Do I just forget about the
I/O error 32 ?. I have found that if I am doing something on the web , Cumulus fails to updat & the manual Web update greys out. I then have to close & re-open Cumulus.

Cheers,
Chris

Unless you can think of something on your system that might be causing it, I don't know what to suggest.

There are lots of ftp errors in the diags files, some sort of problem between you and your web hosting.

Hi Steve,
Have now sorted out the rollover problem by removing the '0' as you suggested. The FTP problem seems more serious as I can get no more information than it is an FTP error.

Many thanks

You could try turning on the ftp log and debug log; between them, they might give some clues.

Hi Steve,
Have been going through the internet settings in Configuration & noticed that 'Use active FTP mode' wasn't ticked so decided to tick it & it now seems to be updating. Could this have been the problem?

Cheers,
Chris

Could well be. As it says in the help: "tick this if you are having problems with ftp uploads".
