FTP upload not working ?

New user question I am afraid ...
Is it correct that CumulusMx wont do an initial FTP upload until some (long) time after startup. Reason I ask is that MX runs on a PC that sleeps mostly but is able to be woken using a Wake on Lan ping. Cumulus 1 used to update the web files on the upload frequency immediately but it seems MX won't. MX will happily update the realtimeguages.txt on a 1 minute trigger (although its set to 15 seconds) but I can't get MX to trigger for the other files. In fact I am pretty sure its been longer than an hour and still no update to the (eg) index and todays htm files

. I can of course trigger a manual FTP upload and that works fine.
Thanks
Denis

AFAIK when you start CumulusMX you have to wait for the set interval time before FTP occurs, you can however force it via the WebGUI.
Settings, FTP Now!
what is your FTP Upload interval set as? mine is 5 minutes. My Realtime is 10 seconds.
the only time I restart CumulusMX is an upgrade so this should only happen once in a while.

My realtime is set to 30 (seconds), but seems to update every minute with the upload set to 3 (minutes). It still hasn't been updated after 2 or so hours.
Log files say
2021-02-02 15:23:56.578 Realtime[171]: Uploading - realtime.txt
2021-02-02 15:23:56.661 Realtime[171]: Uploading - realtimegauges.txt
2021-02-02 15:24:56.585 Realtime[172]: Uploading - realtime.txt
2021-02-02 15:24:56.682 Realtime[172]: Uploading - realtimegauges.txt
Does your system (PC ?) ever hibernate as I am wondering if MX is started and then hibernates, then the timers get screwed

I'm running Ubuntu Server so no need to worry about power settings as such.
I would turn off anything that has an advert effect with hardware to CumulusMX. USB power Settings, Hard Disk Sleep, hibernation.
you can still have Monitor/Display power settings enabled, but anything else should not sleep/hibernate.

Sadly leaving the pc running 24/7 isn’t an option for me so it seems like upgrading to MX is not going to be an option and I may have to stick with Cumulus 1 which catered for the host system sleeping. I would happily restart MX on wake but if it’s going to wait a long time before generating the files and doing an upload then it’s not going to resolve my problem.

CumulusMX works exactly the same way as Cumulus 1. Both programs will not work correctly on a computer that is hibernated or suspended as per the FAQ

Cumulus 1 can shut itself down on hibernate and on wake up then it can be restarted and catch up from the data logger. Either way I've been working on my PC for over 90 minutes and MX hasn't refreshed itself or the web pages despite the update rate being set to 2 minutes. Is there any way I can find out if the timer trigger is being lost ?

Zip up the contents of the MXdiags folder and attach to a reply to this topic. The details will likely be in there.

Cumulus 1 can shut itself down on hibernate and on wake up then it can be restarted and catch up from the data logger.
Would setting this to =1 in your Cumulus.ini not do the same?
ConfirmClose=0
CloseOnSuspend=0
Enjoy,
Paul

Steve never implemented support for those entries in MX because he could not find a cross-platform way of supporting them.
However if you run Cumulus MX as a service on Windows, it will detect the system going into suspend or hibernate mode and shut itself down.
