Barometric Pressure not uploading to CWOP
Greetings, Everyone.
I am new to Cumulus MX and to this forum. Apologies in advance for a long post, but thought the background info might be useful. Have an issue with data upload and am hoping someone here has the answer. Here goes. I am located in New Hapmshire in the US and have had a PWS since the early 2000’s, always a Davus Vantage Pro system. Current system is a Vantage Pro2+ wireless. In all that time I have used the same software – Ambient Weather’s Virtual Weather Station (VWS). I upload data to CWOP/NWS and Weather Underground, but do not have my own website. Until recently I just kept the VWS SW open on my tower desktop PC, which is running Windows 10. In all these years this setup has worked fine. Until two weeks ago, when Microsoft pushed a big Windows update. Suddenly, my system was no longer uploading data to CWOP. It still uploaded to WU and showed up on my computer, so VWS was receiving data from the station. I contacted Ambient Weather to see if they had a solution, but got no help. In searching for a solution on-line I learned that they stopped selling and supporting VWS a few years ago. So, I searched around for a solution and found Cumulus MX. Set up was simple, and within an hour I was uploading to both CWOP and WU. But, here’s the problem.
CWOP is not receiving barometric pressure data. It is receiving everything else, and WU is receiving pressure data. The pressure data is not showing up at FINDU. I have looked at every setting but cannot find anything to change or adjust. Have tried both jnHg and mb units (currently set to mb) with no effect. Can anyone point me to a solution?
I have to say, Cumulus is nice, but I do miss the VWS screen. It looked like something out of Windows 3.1, but it had all the data, dials and charts on one screen, which was nice, as I could see everything at a glance. Have to click tabs to see charts in Cumulus. But, hey, it works and it looks nice.
Thanks in advance for any and all help and advice, and sorry, Again, for the long post.
Bill

Re: Barometric Pressure not uploading to CWOP
dont know what your CWOP ID is, but is it showing here at all?
https://weather.gladstonefamily.net/site/
it would seem strange that CumulusMX is sending data to WU but not CWOP. I have checked mine and Pressure is being reported on CWOP as well as all others sites I send too.
have you tried restarting CumulusMX?
As to Appearance you can change the GUI template to you liking if you wish, or run a template on a webserver see some examples below.

Re: Barometric Pressure not uploading to CWOP
You likely have some older firmware.
In Cumulus MX you could go to Settings / Station Settings and then enabling the following feature:
-Davis VP 1-minute barometer update
Force older Vantage Pro and Pro2 barometer to update once a minute instead of the default 15 minutes
But instead of enabling this feature that was really intended for older systems, I would instead opt to update the firmware. This will allow your system to pass what is called LOOP2 data to CMX and then it will be able to better calculate Altimeter pressure for CWOP. Right now I suspect that your system is only passing LOOP1 data.
It is not unusual for WU pressure to work but not CWOP. This is because both services require different pressure. WU gets Sea Level pressure and CWOP gets Altimeter pressure. LOOP1 includes Sea Level pressure and LOOP2 includes atmospheric station pressure which is required to properly calculate Altimeter. Technically speaking software can calculate Altimeter from Sea Level pressure but it is less accurate, and essentially that option for old stations I mentioned does just that. That is why I recommend updating your firmware instead for a proper fix.
Looks like you are DW5065 and you are uploading every 9 minutes which is the default CMX upload for some reason. You can change that to 5 minutes as that is the newly accepted fastest CWOP upload interval to use. This is just a separate tip and it does not have anything to do with your barometric pressure problem.

Nice writeup about updating your firmware.

ConligWX gave a nice list of possible templates on a webserver, but forgot CumulusUtilsnarcnh wrote: ↑Sun 31 Jan 2021 9:21 pm I have to say, Cumulus is nice, but I do miss the VWS screen. Re: Barometric Pressure not uploading to CWOP
Hans, you must remember, I live in Northern Ireland, and since the last EU decision has now been withdrawn in regards to Vaccines and NI, due to lack of understanding of "TGFA" (The Good friday agreement")
I reserve the right to do whatever I like from this day forward

Re: Barometric Pressure not uploading to CWOP
But that only holds for Northern-Irish.
Shouldn't we start a thread for stupid EU related remarks only - just as a safety valve?
