Changing the setting on the weather station (Watson W-8681)
Up until recently I've been leaving a PC on 24/7 to download data at the rate set in Cumulus every 15 minutes. But if I turn off the computer overnight or have to take it down for maintenance, when I update my readings from the data store on the weather station I’m getting half hour (30 minute) readings. I can’t work out how to edit the station itself to change the data storage rate so that if is the same as my PC software.
I've never used the software that came with the Watson, and somehow can't find in the very basic manual how to change this setting.

Geoff
You need to load up the EasyWeather software to change the device settings.
Close down Cumulus
Load Easy Weather
Click System, Setup
Change Interval to 15
Click Ok
Close down EasyWeather (and never use it again

Thanks folks! Found a download - done it and now off to Tesco for a couple of hours. Will then fire up Cumulus again and see if that's done the job.

Back from Tesco. Restarted Cumulus and checked the "Dec09log.txt" file and the stored data from the Weather Station for the period Cumulus was closed down came in in 15 (not 30) minute intervals, which solves my problem.
May thanks to all ....................

Re: Changing the setting on the weather station (Watson W-8681)
Well I thought I'd sorted this problem yesterday morning after my trip to Tesco. I de-actvated Cumulus and went out for a couple of hours. Returned and when cumulus was re-started it dutifully downloaded the 15min interval data-set for the period I was away.
So last night I turned off my computer just after 23.00hours and this morning powered it up and started Cumulus just before 07.30 ...... and the extract from Dec09log.txt is what I got. Nothing for the period the machine was off.
"17/12/09,22:45,0.4,87,-1.5,2.2,4.1,19,0.0,0.0,1017.0,2347.2,24.2,45,4.1,-2.3,0.4
17/12/09,23:00,1.0,81,-1.9,1.3,6.8,357,0.0,0.0,1017.0,2347.2,24.3,44,2.7,1.0,1.0
18/12/09,07:30,0.5,82,-2.2,1.8,5.4,22,0.0,0.0,1018.7,2347.2,13.7,64,3.4,-1.7,0.5
18/12/09,07:45,0.4,82,-2.3,1.8,5.4,71,0.0,0.0,1018.8,2347.2,13.9,63,2.7,-1.8,0.4"
What am I doing wrong?
How can I 'rescue' the missing data-set?

Re: Changing the setting on the weather station (Watson W-8681)
It looks like your station isn't actually using its logger. It says that it is currently writing to the entry at 0100 (which is suspicious as that is the very first entry in the logger):
2009-12-18 07:15:05 : Request EW data block, addr = 000000
2009-12-18 07:15:05 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 01 55 AA FF FF FF FF FF FF
2009-12-18 07:15:05 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 02 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
2009-12-18 07:15:05 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 03 0F 20 01 31 11 00 00 00
2009-12-18 07:15:05 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 04 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 01
When Cumulus goes back to the previous entry in the logger (FFF0, due to wrap-round), it finds the entry is empty:
2009-12-18 07:15:06 : Request EW data block, addr = 00FFF0
2009-12-18 07:15:06 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 13 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
2009-12-18 07:15:06 : EWUSB: EW startup data line 14 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
2009-12-18 07:15:06 : EWUSB: Data: FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF
I've seen this before a couple of times, but I can't remember the fix, perhaps a reset of the station. If not, hopefully someone who has had this problem with their station will turn up and tell us what they had to do...

Re: Changing the setting on the weather station (Watson W-8681)
This was not a problem BEFORE I installed EasyWeather so that I could change the loggin frequency from 30 minutes to 15 minutes.
I've looked again at the EasyWeather Setup page but cn see no reason for it triggering this problem.
Anyone got any ideas?

Re: Changing the setting on the weather station (Watson W-8681)
I'd forgotten that you'd done that; I was going to suggest that (re)setting the logging interval might fix it. If it thinks it's supposed to be logging at a silly (high) interval, then that would explain why it's not moving on to the next location in the logger. You could try running EW again to set the interval again?
