Diary access

In Cumulus1 the entries in the Weather Diary are saved in \data\log.xml and I have snow data since Nov 21, 2008.
When I started to also run CumulusMX on another computer a couple years ago I copied that log.xml from Cumulus1 to the CumulusMX\data folder.
In the winter I have been adding the snow information every morning in both versions. Cumulus1 log.xml file is current to today with all my daily entries.
However CumulusMX log.xml has the latest entry as 20201223 (Dec 23, 2020), yet when I go to the Weather Diary calendar there is an entry for each date up until today, and the calendar dates are all coloured red which indicates an entry has been made. Any thoughts on why the CumulusMX log.xml no longer has the diary entries?

CumulusMX also has the diary.db file and that is dated today so presume that contains the up to date diary entries that I see from the calendar, but I can't open that. How can I access this data?

Enjoy,
Paul

Hi Paul, it is a SQLite database file. You'll have to Google how to open it, but you can install odbc drivers to allow things like Excel or Access to open the file.

You should have checked the Cumulus documentation https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Weather_Diary to find which file is used.

And of course https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Moving_from_Cumulus_1_to_MX mentions that there is no way for MX to import the C1 data, also viewtopic.php?p=139854#p139854 compares functionality.

Do you use PHPMy Admin? If so, you might want to install PHPLiteAdmin (of course you might find configuration difficult, because I know you struggle with PHP and the configuration is in a PHP file). I often do my MX weather diary updates using that tool, rather than the admin interface edit option.

There was a post in the forum, earlier this month, about using api for reading the information in any single date in this MX database viewtopic.php?p=149525#p149525.

As Mark says, any ODBC option can connect.

@sfws, true I should have and I didn't.
I will follow Mark and your suggestion on the SQLite DB file.

Thanks,
