Help Please - Raspberry Pi

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Help Please - Raspberry Pi

Post by Hoeveld »

I have Cumulus working and running on windows 10 Laptop.

I am trying to do same on Raspberry Pi - 4

I have never used a Raspberry Pi before so its a steep learning curve.

I have downloaded zip file.

I can see it in my downloads folder.

I have read wiki info, but still struggling.

Can someone point me in the right direction how to install and rum cumulus...... ( attached a shot showing where I am at )

Many thanks in advance......

Cordially

Paul

You need to do four things:

1) Extract the contents of the downloaded zip file. From your screenshot you are attempting to run MX without extracting files from the distribution zip.
2) Ensure you have the package mono-complete installed.
3) Open a terminal window and navigate to where you extracted the zip in step 1 above. Then run the following command:

Code: Select all

mono CumulusMX.exe
4) Step 3 will get you up and running - but you really should read a guide on how to run CumulusMX on the Pi. There are lots of guides on this forum.

Unless you have other stuff already on your Raspberry Pi, BY FAR the easiest method is to download and install the pre-built image (ie, instead of NOOBS). Instructions are at https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Software . Look for the following 1 screen down for active links
There is also a pre-built disk image file for the Raspberry Pi that can be downloaded from here: rPi Cumulus MX 3.9.4

The instructions for using this image can be found here: Raspberry Pi Image

Easisest thing to do is follow this link and use the CMX image.

All instructions can be found here.

https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Raspberry_Pi_Image

It so much easier than having to load all the individual Pi components and software like we had to do in the past.

Many thanks gents.

I have CumulusMX up on Raspberry pi.

I also have CumulusMX running on windows laptop. Working and updating with Ecowitt GW1000 - Updating and running fine.

The raspberry pi installation is not updating. All display readings remain at O.0

The last station update remains at 00:00:00 and flashes from green to red.

I have gone through ALL of the settings on the Raspberry Pi and checked they are the same as the windows working installation.

I believe they are the same yet Raspberry Pi does not update.

If anyone has a suggestion I would be grateful.
