Question about rain on WMR200

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Question about rain on WMR200

Post by Barpm »

Hi,
the value of the column "Rainfall counter" of the monthly data log file matches the value "ACCUM since" on the WMR200 console.
If I reset the values of the rain on the console, the value of that column of the log file is also reset.
Can I safely reset the rain on the console?
Thanks

Cumulus uses that increasing counter to track the rainfall.

If you reset the counter, then Cumulus should detect a "large" change in the counter. After three consecutive reads from the station with the new value, Cumulus should reset itself and take account of the new counter values.

Ok, but the monthly and annual rainfall don't reset in Cumulus, I hope...

No, all the Cumulus counts will continue as before.

It's best to avoid resetting the counter though.
