My Davis AirLink *IS* Working

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

My Davis AirLink *IS* Working

Post by The Dalek Hunter »

In another post I asked for help getting my Davis Airlink working.
As it was not showing up anywhere on the admin page or on the published website I thought was doing something wrong.

However looking at my logs I discovered it was being found so I decided to write an htm file with appropriate web tags and upload it via the additional web files setting.

Success!!

Now I am not a programmer and all my coding is done via "copy and paste" so no comments on how bad the page is - it was just to prove it works!

I assume at somer stage AQI will be added to the Cumulus page.

My website https://longsutton-weather.co.uk
And the cobbled together AQI is at https://longsutton-weather.co.uk/aqi.htm

Well done. I'm on my phone at the mo, but the beteljuice has also put an AQI page together - you'll have to search the forum for it.

Thanks Dalek,
I've borrowed... test at http://komokaweather.com/cumulusmxwll/airlink.htm
and in the process have learned another lesson.

I wasn't sure if the AirLink was actually working as air quality is mostly all 0.0 and it wouldn't work in weatherlink.com Embed preview, so called Davis support again.
Excellent service... first thing they asked after I explained my issue is "do I have it set as Indoor?" and I answered "yes". They said with Indoor setting it is not Shared (visible) on weatherlink.com. I changed the AirLink setting to Outdoor and now it does appear. I don't quite get the temperature and humidity displayed in the embeddable link https://www.weatherlink.com/embeddableP ... 23/airLink It appears to be the indoor temp and humidity, and possibly showing that as the AirLink is actually inside, but then where does the 1.1°C Feels like come from?

I also had to change the settings in CumulusMX from Indoor to Outdoor so CMX matched the webtags used in the test script.

Now to search for the betelhuice's script...

Enjoy,
Paul

AirLink has a temperature/humidity sensor built in to it. Your readings, however, look odd.

Have you got your AirLink indoors or outdoors?

Here's mine btw: https://www.weatherlink.com/embeddableP ... 54/airLink

My AirLink is outdoors.

Thanks Mapantz,
The AirLink was inside while I was setting it up and learning about it. I now moved it outside and the temp/hum are changing rapidly downwards as it is close to freezing here now - and actually getting a bit of a snowsquall right now www.komokaweather.com/pictures/sebec/image.jpg

Will be watching that AirLink link for Feels like and see where it goes. WL.com doesn't provide feels like so can't check with that but my CumulusMXwll shows 0.5°C feels like.

Enjoy,
Paul

I have now managed to edit the indexT.htm file so that there is now a link to my Air Quality from the main age - I added it to the now::gauges::today etc line

Seems to work!!

Interesting ... Davis say you have UK Air Quality of 1.4 - There is no such thing !
Yes the UK index has 10 bands, but they are neither linear nor exponential.

Here are the DEFRA definitions of the bands.

I am new to all this so please bear with me :)

Here is the actual readout from the AirLink form WeatherLink

https://www.weatherlink.com/embeddableP ... 34/summary

And this is where I took my 1-10 from

https://uk-air.defra.gov.uk/air-pollution/daqi

Is my AQI page wrong?

Thanks

Hmm again .....

The WeatherLink data does indeed give an average AQI value rather than the average density (which is what the sensor json file reports)
Davis :groan:

On the assumption they have the correct 'trigger' values I would suggest rounding down the figure reported. ;)

Mine's Only sort of working.....

I can see it on Weatherlink, but not in MX.

A little unclear on the settings.
I configured it as standalone outdoor & added what I though correct in the extra sensor settings under settings, but nothing shows up in the data.

Thought MX may need a restart, but that resulted in a crash,

Diags here...

API data missing? I entered that under the Airlink settings.

Phil.

You don't need to fill in any API info if you don't have a subscription.

So Am I correct in thinking all I need to do is :-

Enable Outdoor AirLink,
Enter it's Local IP,
Enter the Station ID; which I presume is shown on WeatherLink as Device ID, (and also appears to be the AirLinks MAC address)?

Thanks

Phil.

Edit:- Working Now! Visible under Extra Sensors.

Now need to get something up on my site.

Cheers.
