Another C1 tweak pretty please ?

We've all been there: dodgy data, close Cumulus, edit files / change ini / use back-up files.

Then we resart Cumulus and ........ The data logger screws it all up again

Any chance of a "Confirm Data Logger Read" on Cumulus re-start ?

Could you explain a bit further how that would work/what it would do, and when?

If you have selected "Use Data Logger", then naturally on a re-start of Cumulus the very first thing that happens is it goes and gets the data from whatever time slot it deems necessary. But depending on what editing youve had to do, the re-read records may put you back to square one.

Of course you could remember to un-tick "Use Data Logger" before you close Cumulus ...

What I suggest if the option IS ticked, then on any Cumulus restart there is a 'confirmation splash'.

This may (?) also be helpful for those get a forever 'download' and can't actually get Cumulus running to do any diagnosis or option changes.

Get my driftwood ?

I think most people wouldn't like having to confirm on every start up? I suppose it could be another option...

The way I've always envisaged this working is as in the help file; edit the cumulus.ini file to set UseDataLogger=0 before starting up (and remembering to set the option again once started).

Seems much better than imposing a mandatory confirmation box every start up!

Yip, gets my vote.

You could please everyone by adding another option ConfirmDataLoggerUseOnStartup=1 ;)

For those who want to be asked on each start up

Steve, what about a command line, such as:

cumulus.exe -ndl

the 'ndl' simply meaning 'no data logger' ... ;)

No special 'have-to-confirm' splash screen and no need to edit the 'cumulus.ini' file and no need to remember to replace the check mark in the setup window.

But you would have to remember to invoke the command line option.

I was thinking of a simple 'Get Out Of Jail Free' when you've done your editing and automatically re-start Cumulus - then go "B*gger  " (I didn't want to do that !)

Perhaps a 'data load abort splash' with a 3sec default continue ??? (But only if you have the data-logger set in your options)

Anyways, I didn't expect so much opposition  , and the platform works as is. No great hardship.

I'm happy to do this, but I know from experience that I would have to make it a separate option.

The joys of software development; everyone wants something different. I think I'm going with the Ricky Nelson approach in future...
