Cumulus Support

Not sure where to look to fix this but yesterday was 8/31/20 and at 11:59pm I had recorded 2.95" rainfall for the day. This morning 9/1/20, all records are showing only .01" rain for yesterday (8/31/20). Running CumulusMX 3.8.3-b3093 with Davis data logger. Log files for 8/31 appear correct, as do 9/1. Thoughts?

Could you zip up your MXdiags folder and attach to a post on here, please. It would be a good idea for the Devs to take a look at them.

MXDiag files attached. Too large for 1 file so split into 2 .zip files. From what I can see, it looks like the midnight reading of .01" is being counted as 8/31 rather than 9/1.

The root cause of the problem is that MX stopped receiving data from the station at 19:25 on the 31 Aug.
It then processed the rollover and set rainfall for the 31 at 2.95
There was still no response** from the station when MX was shutdown at 04:48 on the 1st
When MX restarted it was still having connection issues to the station.

** That was on version 3.6.12, I see that you then updated on the 1st to v3.8.3

Given the issues with station connectivity during the rollover, I recommend that you...
1. Backup your existing data.
2. Rewind your data to the backup for the start of 31 Aug, this will let MX perform the rollover processing again.
3. Run MX with the -debug command line parameter for the first run in-case it goes wrong so I can take a more detailed look.

Thanks Mark. When you say 'rewind your data', I'm not sure I know the process for that? Specifically what do I need to do to accomplish that! In the many years I've used both Cumulus and then MX...never had an issue! This one had me puzzled though!

There is also a mismatch in logging (loggung!) intervals.

Close MX and then locate in the /backup folder a complete set of data from a date before the 31st. Copy the complete set of data (all files) from the backup data you have chosen to your /data folder. Restart MX.

First off, stop MX and make a copy of the contents of the "data" folder in your MX installation. Then look in the "backup" folder in your MX installation. There should be a subfolder called "daily". In here you will find the daily data backups made by MX. Identify the one for the start of the 31st August, and copy the contents into the "data" folder in your MX installation. Finally, restart MX. It will then read the data from the start of 31st August from your station's logger, and will re-do the rollover that went wrong at the end of the 31st August. That will resolve your rainfall problem.
