Last Rainfall still not working

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Last Rainfall still not working

Post by The Dalek Hunter »

I have the latest version of CumulusMX running on a Raspberry Pi.
I have a Vantage Pro2 connected to Cumulus via a WeatherLink Live.
My setup is a mixed units ie 'C for the temp and inches for the rain etc.

With no tweaks or modifications and a clean install of CumulusMX the last rainfall is not being updated.

The only way it gets updated is if I delete all the data from the data folder and reboot.

It seems to work fine on WeeWX running on a Raspberry Pi 4 https://longsutton-weather.co.uk but not on my Cumulus setup

Can you run Cumulus using the -debug command line parameter, then post a log showing the issue please. I thought 3.8.2 would fix this issue - obviously not :(

Don't know whether it is relevant or not, but my MX just missed updating the last rainfall time. It is currently set to 08:05 today, but the last tip (looking at the graph) was at 11:28 today. Running v 3.8.2 build 3092.

Found the problem, I was using the VP Rain Gauge type in the logic - but that is an optional read-only setting, so isn't set for most people, including me :bash:

I have a day offline tomorrow, back on Thursday afternoon when I'll look at the SFTP issue in another thread and I can find and fix that in a reasonable time frame get a patch release out to resolve these issues.

Having put

VPrainGaugeType=0

In the Station setting of Cumulus.ini and restarting last rain now works fine

Yeah, that would fix it. The new release (v3.8.3) should fix it without having to set that custom value.

I've still got a problem with this, although I haven't recorded any rain since I upgraded. Will it reset on the next tip?

Yes, it is only set when a tip occurs.
