Trying to get graphs working - what do I do with the all the files

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Trying to get graphs working - what do I do with the all the files

Post by Coomkeen »

I have Cumulus working and ftping the data up to my web host.
But the graphs are not working. That is, the 'rollover' on the gauges produces a blank mini-window with text data right at the top, but a blank where the graphs should be.
I have read that I need jpgraph-4.3.2 which I have downloaded, all in a folder, with loads of files and sub-folders.
I have edited gd_image.inc.php at line 2266 to add return true; in the function.
And Cumulus-MX-Gauge-Graphs-master, which seems to have JSON and SQL folders in it.

So now I've got all these folders and files, but absolutely no idea where I should put them on my server.
Or how I make them work.

All help appreciated.

Help PLEASE someone.

What I have done so far...
Uploaded the jpgraph folder with all files and sub folders.
Uploaded the GraphMaster folder with all files and sub folders.
Modified the graphSettings.php file with what I think are the right paths.
I have added a folder on the server called 'weather', and that is where all the Cumulus files are.
So, 'externally' as it were the site is coomkeen.ie/weather.
According to my host's cPanel File Manager, the server path is /home/coomkee1/public_html/weather, and that is where I've put the jpgraphs folder and the GraphMaster folder.
So I have two lines in the graphSettings.php file -
$GRAPH['jsonloc'] = '/home/coomkee1/public_html/weather/GraphsMaster/';
$GRAPH['jpgraphloc'] = '/home/coomkee1/public_html/weather/jpgraph/src/';

I'm not sure if either of these is right, because all I can do to try it out is reload the web page and hover the mouse pointer over a gauge.
It either works or it doesn't.
So far it doesn't.
As there's no debug mode I have no idea what's not working.

All help would be much appreciated.
Thanks

With your website page loaded, hit F12 and select the network tab. That will enable you to debug. It will tell you what is missing. The other tabs will also show javascript errors, etc.

Thanks freddie.
Didn't know you could do that.
Not sure it gets me much further, as it just says it can't find the image files - 'hum.png' and so on.
And they don't seem to have been generated, which I sort of guessed at.
But what's not doing the generating is still a mystery.
I don't really know how the system works.
Presumably there's something that responds to a mouse roll-over, and it goes from there.

I can't help any more, sorry, as I don't use the rollover graphs. Perhaps someone else will chip in.

Thanks freddie,
Beginning to wonder myself :)
Feel sure it's to do with path settings, so will continue playing, between cups of tea!

Have you got the .htaccess file supplied with the release in your images folder as that is what does the redirect to the correct image file.

Well I didn't, cos hidden files were not displayed in my local downloaded folder.
Fixed that now, and uploaded it to the images folder.
Still doesn't work, but maybe start again getting the paths right.
