Hi
2nd day and I'm not progressing well!
I'm following the instructions on cumulus MX settings from wiki and I'm stuck. The screen won't let me insert my station details as per the screen shot.
Would like a little help please.
Do I have to uninstall Cumulus 1. :?:
Thanks

No you do not have to install Cumulus 1 but you shouldn't be running Cumulus 1 and CumulusMX simultaneously.

Just to check you are trying to set the station details in the Admin interface via your browser, because I am not aware of any screen shots showing this in the Wiki?

Sorry- not very good at this type of thing:
I have tried to download CumulusMX and I have the associated files in downloads

downloads/cumulusMxdist3091/cumulusmx/interface... and I'm looking at a file called mysqlsettings, but it doesn't allow editing or inserting my station details.
I'm probably looking in the wrong file.? :groan:

sounds like your trying to edit the actual file.

edit the mysql settings from the webgui:

http://cumulusMX.ip.address:8998/mysqlsettings.html

Need to backup a bit to get the correct current status and to get you running CumulusMX successfully..
1. Are you running Cumulus1 successfully?
2. Have you actually unzipped the download and to where? - i.e. in the Download folder or in C:\CumulusMX
Unzipping in the \download folder will be quite cumbersome.
3. If you have unzipped the download have you gone to the folder where CumulusMX.exe is located, and then click on CumulusMX.exe ? (make sure Cumulus1 is stopped and not running)
4. After you run CumulusMX.exe has the DOS screen completed the start up and does it say Running normally?
5. Have you then opened a new browser and entered localhost:8998 and does the dashboard appear?
6. You should not need to do anything with mysqlsettings, and certainly not until CumulusMX is running correctly.

Enjoy,
Paul

This is where I'm up to.
Yes Cumulus 1 runs OK and I've not got it running at the same time as CumulusMX.
The Application is in my download file- I haven't moved the files anywhere yet, but they have been extracted.
The DOS screen is as shown below: It just sits there and stops!
Thanks for your time. :groan:

Current culture: English (United Kingdom)
Cumulus MX v.3.8.1 build 3091
Working Dir: C:\Users\robbr\Downloads\CumulusMXDist3091\CumulusMX\
Station type not set
Cumulus running at: http://*:8998/
(Replace * with any IP address on this machine, or localhost)
Open the admin interface by entering this URL in a browser.

Type Ctrl-C to terminate

The DOS screen is as shown below: It just sits there and stops!
Do you mean it just stays on the DOS screen ending with Type Ctrl-C to terminate? or did the DOS window totally close/stop?
Have you then minimized the DOS screen (not stop it) and then in a new browser window enter localhost:8998 ?

Enjoy,
Paul

The DOS screen is as shown below: It just sits there and stops!
It is supposed to as unlike Cumulus 1 it is not a program with a GUI frontend. What you are seeing is the backend running correctly.

Now get your browser running and enter what it says in the DOS window, i.e. http://*:8998/ or in your case as I think you are running on the same computer http://localhost:8998/ and the frontend Admin interface will open in your browser. Go to Settings / Station Settings and set up the same weatherstation you had in Cumulus 1 and you should see see data appearing.

I suggest looking and digesting the instructions before anything else.:

Hello everyone
managed to put my settings in the respective area and now I find this in the Dos program.
Not familiar with altering registry settings and would not want to upset my machine.
Any help appreciated!
Nothing seems to work for me??

You don't need to do anything to the registry. The first part of the error message:

Code: Select all

System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Devart.Data.MySql, Version=8.3.389.0
is indicating that MX can't find a file that comes in the zip file.

I would delete the MX installation you have done so far, and start again by carefully follow the instructions in the Wiki link supplied to you in an earlier post.

If you're getting the same message then either something is not going right when you do the unzip (i.e. trying to execute the program from the zip file or not extracting/unzipping everything) or when you run the program (running it from a shortcut, for example).

The steps in the wiki are tried and tested, so if you follow them to the letter then you shouldn't go wrong.

I'm a bit confused, as in a earlier post you had Cumulus MX running ok, and the console got as far as the "Press Ctrl-C to exit" message.

That is what you should see if you just extract the zip file and run Cumulus MX.exe.

But now you cannot even get it to run, so what is different from the installation now and before?

Like Paul said, running it from your downloads folder is not the easiest of options,. I would try just extracting the CumulusMX folder from the zip file directly to the root of your C: drive. Then you just need to run C:\CumulusMX\CumulusMX.exe

Hi All
Seems I was nearly there and my mistake was dragging Cumulus MX to the desktop without creating a shortcut.
The program is now accessing my console/weatherlink and showing up to date readings apart from my additional soil moisture and leaf temps.(a)
It also doesn't show history -back to when I first installed Cumulus 1. (b). I assume this will be a straight transfer of the data files from Cumulus 1.

My next job is to get everything up on my new web domain that I have just purchased from Go Daddy (c) This is my next target!

Help with (a), (b) and (c) would be very much appreciated.

Please bear with me as I am a pensioner and never been one for the IT side.

Many thanks to everyone who has contributed!
