None here either. I posted a new topic yesterday and there were 4 replies but no notifications. Hopefully they'll return today. :)

Hi Ray, thanks for this. I have checked the email logs and your email provider's server (BT Internet) is currently refusing to talk to mine, as mine now has a new IP address. I asked my ISP to make a DNS change to stop this happening but it appears that they haven't done the necessary yet - so I will chase them up today.

Some email providers are more lenient with matters such as this, so most email is getting through. You should see yours later today if my ISP gets on it!

I hope so.
Do I have to resend mails which were waiting, not collected because of lack of notification, or do outstanding mails get an automatic re-notification?

If by "mail" you mean "private message" then no, re-notification doesn't occur.

Thanks Freddie, that explains why I’m still not getting any emails from Cumulus. I have the same problem with a flight sim forum. I wouldn’t mind if BT just put them in my spam folder but they don’t appear at all.

Ray, Cheshire.

What is the status of email notifications for pm's? I haven't had one for several months at least but the pm's are in my inbox and the little notification in the web browser when I am logged in works. I haven't changed anything related to these notifications since I joined the forum. I do get emails for postings. Any help with this would be appreciated.

@billy. I’m getting notifications. What you could try is logging in to your email account and look for an option to mark an email address as “trusted”. That did it for me otherwise they just disappear into the ether and don’t even make it to your spam folder.

The email address is forum@hosiene.co.uk

@billy I sent a test PM to you and there was no email sent via my mail server. This suggests a user-specific setting. If you could check the following for me:
  • Go to your PM inbox
  • Click on "Board preferences" tab
  • Click the "Edit notifications" link
  • Check the "Someone sends you a private message" email option is ticked
See attachment below:

Hi Freddie,
I got your test pm.

The notification in the web browser indicated a new message AND there was an email!

The email option is - and always has been - ticked; see attachment.

why do these things happen to me? :bash: :groan:

In the past I have checked my junk folder etc but to no avail.

I will keep an eye on this - I don't do a lot of pm-ing.

thanks for investigating.
