You will need to post the latest MXdiags file in order that the problem can be investigated. Post it as a zipped attachment.

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
This looks like a permissions problem with Cumulus.ini, but you seem to have fixed it as the latest log 20200717-111522.txt shows that file being written to multiple times?

Also, your console clock appears to be way off - which will probably be the cause of the long start-up time whilst it dumps the entre logger contents...
Code: Select all

2020-07-17 12:10:47.198 Console clock: 17/07/2020 11:44:00-

Hi, not sure if this post was for me as I don’t have a problem with a long startup time. My console clock is correct within 1 minute. But I still have a problem with the error message on saving the internet settings.

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
I haven’t done anything to fix the problem and the error message is still appearing when I click on save the internet settings. However I have now entered my Weather underground details and clicked save and it is updating the data to their site but the error message still persists!

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
I have just had same message when trying to save internet settings, and I get same message whether I try to save a change to what I had before, or try to save the exact same settings as before. Nothing else about my MX implementation has changed, other settings screens still save and update correctly.
I am running 3.6.12. In the MXDiags (with debug logging enabled) it simply notes at the relevant time:

just tried saving then changing and saving in internet settings page and all works fine for me. so it must be a combination of enabled/disabled features that make this occur.sfws wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jul 2020 3:00 pm I have just had same message when trying to save internet settings, and I get same message whether I try to save a change to what I had before, or try to save the exact same settings as before. my settings in that page are very minimal as I use MB to upload my data to various weather sites. all i use this for it to upload data to my local webserver via ftp (plain)

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
Could you try using the /interface/json/InternetOptions.json & InternetSchema.json files from release 3087 please? (attached)
The 3.7.0 versions managed to get into the 3.6.12 zip file when I made the emergency release. I have updated the main zip file for 3.6.12 - b3088.

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
Hi,
I downloaded the latest version of CumulusMX today (build b3088) and have linked up my Ecowitt GW1000 and it is populating the station Dashboard/Now/Gauges etc ok, but when I try setting the FTP Upload I also get the message 'error [object Object]'. I am using Windows10PRO, but I am sure it is not my PC or my web server as I have tried this on two separate PC’s and two host servers. Here is what I have noticed though. I can fill in all the details, line by line and save ok. It is only when I put in FTP port 21 or 22 for SFTP that the error message appears. In fact even if I don’t fill in any details at all except a port number it will always come up with the error message.
Is there a link anywhere to an earlier build that I can replace this build with as I cannot see this as an issue mentioned in this forum, other than the one below?
Thanks’

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
Thanks, This has sorted the error message appearing, but the FTP is not uploading to the server.
This is the message I am getting in the FTP log:
2020-07-23 00:10:22.391FTP[14]: Uploading web\realtimegauges.txt to public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txt
# OpenWrite("public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txttmp", Binary)
# GetFileSize("public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txttmp")
Command: SIZE public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txttmp
Response: 550 public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txttmp: No such file or directory
# OpenPassiveDataStream(AutoPassive, "STOR public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txttmp", 0)
Command: EPSV
Response: 229 Entering Extended Passive Mode (|||56796|)
Status: Connecting to 79.170.44.20:56796
Command: STOR public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txttmp
Response: 550 public_html/cumulus/ecowitt/realtimegauges.txttmp: No such file or directory
Status: Disposing FtpSocketStream...
# CloseDataStream()
My FTP settings are identical to the Cumulus1 settings so I think I am missing a file on the server?
Many thanks.

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
Thank you, that cured the problem for reasons we both understand.mcrossley wrote: ↑Wed 22 Jul 2020 8:41 pm Could you try using the /interface/json/InternetOptions.json & InternetSchema.json files from release 3087 please? (attached)
The 3.7.0 versions managed to get into the 3.6.12 zip file when I made the emergency release. I have updated the main zip file for 3.6.12 - b3088.
Indeed, last night I suddenly thought this is another demonstration of the wrong interface files getting into emergency release.
Just to spell it out for other readers, in 3.6.12 references to items in the Weatherbug section that nobody is actually using (and is being removed in 3.7.0) remain in InternetSettings.cs compiled into CumulusMX.exe, but the two files I have just reverted didn't in 3.6.12 include the Weatherbug section in the settings page in the admin interface and the issue seen was therefore due to that mismatch.
Although that was a mistake in your release zip, there is always a possibility that a Cumulus user might have admin interface files that DO NOT match the MX engine they are using.
Consequently, this is a lesson that there should be code to safely handle such a mismatch without seeing effectively a system failure message. The C# source needs to be written so it includes better error handling in the api-based interaction with the admin interface - in this case it should have been able to handle updates to other sections in the file, and coped with not getting weatherbug settings from the admin interface. Maybe it did actually update the ini file, given the points made by early posts in this topic, and the error was not fatal, but that still means the coding needs to handle this better.
An alternative is a separate SAVE button for each Cumulus.ini section, and therefore multiple js and json files separately for each ini file section, as in general a Cumulus user is only seeking to make a small amendment when they use the settings pages in the admin interface. This would have avoided the problem, as I would have been able to make my change to one parameter without having to update all the parameters in the current single json.

Re: error [object Object] when trying to save internet settings
All true, but there is only so much time I can devote to making changes in MX, probably too much already! There are lots of places where error handling could be better, I'm sloowly improving stuff and adding more messages.
