Moving the rain gauge - WM1090

Hi,

I will soon be the proud owner of a WH1090 (if Father Christmas got my note...) and will be mounting the sensors outside. I plan on putting the wind speed & direction sensors up a pole at the gable end of the house but think, after reading the forum, that the rain sensor would be better placed on the flat garage roof.

Will it be OK to extend the wire connecting the rain sensor to the TX so that it can be mounted about 20 feet away from the other sensors? Will I introduce inaccuracies if I attempt this?

Thanks for any advice,

Dave J

Hi
No problem - I cut mine and soldered a new section in (well wrapped for the weather) but an extension lead would be OK.
Regards
Alan

Dave,
The only problem you may face is it the garage roof is shielded by part of the house.
The rain gauge ideally needs to be placed on a solid surface that is high enough not to be shielded from the rain in any direction.
Not possible in my set-up unfortunately.
Mike.
