Task Scheduler not running Cumulus MX (Windows 7)

Hello all,
I am trying to get Cumulus MX to run on startup via Windows Task Scheduler, however for some reason the task runs without error but Cumulus MX doesn't run.
My setup for the task is as follows:
General
Triggers
Actions

Action settings:
Program/script: cmd.exe
Arguments: /C start "C:\Cumulus MX\CumulusMXDist3082\CumulusMX\CumulusMX.exe"
Start in: C:\Cumulus MX\CumulusMXDist3082\CumulusMX\
Conditions
Settings
The result that I get in Task Scheduler after it has run (everything appears fine here), however as mentioned above, CumulusMX does not run.
Without an error code being produced I'm not sure where to turn for this. CumulusMX runs fine when I do it manually by running the exe in the directory, just not as a scheduled task.
Any help with this would be appreciated.

I have not studied every image, nor do I pretend to be an expert on Task Scheduler.
Looks similar to my setup, except I had "when user is logged on". It might be that the task cannot start outside a user context?
Try changing that? See if that is the problem.

Strangely enough, that got the task to execute, but it merely opened a command window with the following:
Thankfully, I was able to get CumulusMX to run at startup simply by adding it to the 'Startup' Windows folder, in case anyone is unaware of how to do this and sees this thread in the future, see below:
I have only tested this with Windows 7, I'm unsure how or if it would work in later versions.
1. Find the CumulusMX.exe file (wherever you chose to install CumulusMX), then right click and select 'Copy'
2. Open the Start Menu
3. Select 'All Programs'
4. Scroll down until you find 'Startup'
5. Right click the 'Startup' folder and select 'Open'
5. Right click within the Startup folder and select 'Paste Shortcut'
For context, the reason I was requiring CumulusMX to run at startup was because I require the mini PC I use to restart daily to avoid crashing issues.

It looks like you did not define the task correctly. I cannot spot what is wrong on that "action" screen, but I guess something is not right. By the way the "..." quotation marks are only needed when what is included contains a space, because space otherwise splits parameters. This is all covered in the Wiki by the way at

This is also covered at that same Wiki reference and yes it does work for Windows 10.

I believe that only services can run without any user logged in.

Thank you for the help everyone, I did take a look at the wiki but I must have missed an important section.
Regarding it not being able to run without being logged in, that is something I have since discovered as well.
If I find the error in my setup I will edit my above post to provide a working solution for posterity sake.

Very similar to how I start it but only launch it after logon.
The only time I saw an error whas when I didn't specify the start in directory correctly.
Only other apparent difference is you have a deep directory tree.....
Code: Select all
"C:\Cumulus MX\CumulusMXDist3082\CumulusMX\CumulusMX.exe"
Any reason why you are not just running your installation just from C:\CumulusMX?
Only other difference I see to my config is you trailing \ on the start in path, but adding that to mine didn't may it fail.
