Problem with realtimegauges

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

OK, so it is NOT a problem with the gauges, but with a display of the alarms at the bottom of the page.
I'll have a look at possible causes and come back to you.

Could you post the dayfile.txt (in the data-directory) please?
I'll run a check on it with cumulusutils
(You could also do it yourself but that would require you to look how that works. Might be useful but to speed up a litlle, just send the dayfile).

And while we're at it, could you also show the version of CumulusMX itself? it just fell of the image, it should be one line below the image.
Do you remember when you updated CMX last?

No wonder I struggled to solve your problem, in your original post you claimed gauges were not showing.

Now it turns out that it is your alarms that are not working, nothing to do with number of gauges. What a waste of my time. Next time post the screen shot at the start, it makes all the difference.

I still don't have enough information to solve your problem. presumably, you have not restricted what JavaScript can do by some setting?
Maybe you have a mismatch between the version of the HTML (\CumulusMX\interface\index.html) and the version of the script (\CumulusMX\interface\js\dashboard.js). Maybe not.

Please replace both files with latest version from a release distribution, there is a new release on its way, so you might wait for that! But it would be a good if your problem was solved just by using correct files.

Both HTML and script changed in 22 April release (version3.5.4 build 3075), that update added a new div in HTML and a new 'key' in the script interaction with the MX engine. I still believe that any script failure will show up in the F12 browser console window.

HI PaulMy

Thanks for that. There were actually 28 entries with the same error. All fixed now.

Here is the dayfile.txt.

sfws, I am not an expert at Cumulus (certainly not as much as you all!). In my original post I said that I saw a row with text in it and wrongly assumed that I was missing a row of gauges. I was not (but am now) familiar with alarms. So I guess my problem is that the alarms are not showing (or now showing correctly). As I mentioned before, my CMX version is 3079.

I am not familiar with the F12 browser viewer and thought that I might get some pointers to fix this (as I have had some very helpful assistance in the past).

I am attaching dayfile.txt with errors corrected, thanks PaulMy.

Thanks. OK, if errors are already corrected no use checking them :)

But I think the advice as given above by sfws to update the files is valid.
You might think of a full upgrade, maybe you missed something else.

So, I would do that and please report back what the status is.

OK following advice received from here, I installed build 3083 into a fresh directory and the issue of no alarms persists. I am viewing the admin interface on chrome on win10. I an attaching a screenshot.

I just displayed the admin interface using Microsoft Edge and presto, the alarms display correctly. Displaying the admin interface on chromium on my rpi3 displays the same problem. So the problem would appear to be rendering by the different browsers?

Seems like I am getting somewhere after all!!!

Hi,
On my new Windows10 PC I have just tried the Dashboard in Edge, Firefox and Chrome, and the radio buttons for the alarms I have set are all solid green except for "Battery low" which is flashing red, and a small text message appears on the upper left of the dashboard "Play Alarm Sound". I don't have sound on this PC

The same solid green and red flashing buttons on my Windows8 PC with sound, for Firefox, Chrome, and Opera, and the same "Play Alarm Sound" message is displayed on the upper left of the Dashboard and clicking on the message gives the siren sound.

I have Sound file set as alarm.mp3

Enjoy,
Paul

No, it is different default settings. It can be made to work on Chrome as Paul says it works for him on Chrome.

I still suspect some aspect of JavaScript is turned off in Chrome for you. Somebody who uses Chrome must know what corrective action is needed.

I don't use Edge, but I have read it is much better than IE, but I have certainly seen differences on Chrome compared to many others (Firefox, Opera, Safari, Lunascape, Avant Ultimate). Chrome had a reputation a while ago of constantly changing its defaults, and lost out to its rivals for a short time until Google's bundling of it with other products made it popular again.

I started my internet life with Netscape navigator, but Microsoft marketing techniques (not just making IE part of the Windows operating system and loaded by default for all browsing), they forced Netscape off the market by telling computer dealers they must not install Netscape on Windows machines. Dependable Firefox is a descendant of Netscape, and I have stuck happily with that. When they do an update they can warn you of significant effects.

So you appear to have the problem only with chromium on the RPi.

So maybe you should avoid that one although I don't think it is the browser.
And indeed I just tried chromium from my Linux Laptop to the CMX on the RPi and it works flawless.
What I can't do is the chromium on the RPi itself.

But all in all, as you can run it from the PC based browsers, I don't think it is a CMX issue but some chromium installation issue (or indeed Buster as you just upgraded).

i thought I would clarify just in case. I run the cumulusmx engine exclusively on my rpi3 (buster) and use edge, chrome and chromium browsers to view the admin interface.

I think the problem is with Chrome on Win10 and Chromium on the rpi3. Both do not display the alarms. If it is a problem with default settings, I would be at a loss where to start because there are so many! Edge works fine. And Edge is my default browser so that is good. Sometimes I do run Chrome though. And as you say it is probably more a Buster issue or with my Buster settings. Perhaps this will be solved at some point with an upgrade.

Since I installed cumulusMX fresh, I would assume that I have the latest files.

Anyway, I think I have thrashed this to death and am happy with the results. In the process I learned a lot more how CumulusMX works etc. Thanks particularly to sfws, HansR and PaulMy.

And yes, I apologize for the title of this thread. it is not really with realtimegauges but alarms!
