Repeated problems with wron data

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Repeated problems with wron data

Post by haeb »

Hi all,

i am curerntly using MX v.3.6.0 build 3076 .

Since some time i have repeated occurences of wrong data.I tried to change some entries by hand. Cumulus did run afterwards.

Now i have again wrong data and i can not get Cumulus running:

I have replaced my Station some time ago. Could this be a problem: instable connection to the device?

Where do i send the zip file?

It looks on the surface like a file permissions problem.
You should attach the zip file to a reply on this topic.

You would post the zip file right here, in your message (in the section below where you are typing, there is a tab for 'Attachments' which allows you to select a file to upload).

Meanwhile, the below shows where the current problem lies:

CumulusMX is looking for the Cumulus.ini file in that directory. I don't know why it would look in the backup subdirectory, or why your date/time-named subdirectory has an 'x' at the end. Does that directory even exist?

Are you sure you ran CumulusMX from the right place - that is, when you were in the main CumulusMX directory?
ie

Code: Select all

cd CumulusMX
sudo mono CumulusMX.exe

I think it was trying to backup the Cumulus.ini file to the backup folder. It sounds like you did not create the backup folder when you unzipped Cumulus MX? (the folder *is* in the zip file)

i was wondering why cumulus wants to access the backup/20200520213317. It is was 777 so there couldn't be an access problem. I renamed it to backup/20200520213317x for testing purpose.

Now I am thinking about a defect in the Station.

What else i have done:
Replaced the Station to the place it worked for years
Started a new Instance of cumulus without all the old data

After two day of working, today cumulus did stop again with a lot of wrong data...

I would suggest an upgrade to the latest version (build 3082) as in build 3079 Mark fixed some file corruption problems on Startup/closedown and in build 3080 some problems with an incorrect Ctrl+C shutdown were fixed.

If the problems then continue another upload of the latest MXdiags file showing the problem , rather than them all.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

It was a hardware problem. As the station has a solar sensor which never worked, i detached it.

Since 10 days cumulus is running without any problem.
