up grade from 3049 to 3075

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

up grade from 3049 to 3075

Post by seggins »

I have just upgraded my tried and trusted build 3049 to build 3075. Everything work absolutely fine except daily temperature, daily rain and daily sun charts which are blank. I suspect I have forgotten something!
Dayfile seems to be OK.
I have attached my dayfile for you to see.
Daily charts are set at 365 days ( which was fine under 3049)

John

Thanks John. First you have an error in your dayfile...
Error on line 375 of dayfile.txt: Input string was not in a correct format.

But other than the odd checksum error the logs do not show anything. I need to see logs with the debug and data logging enabled please.

That sounds like you have some old files from a previous version still there. When you upgraded, did you create a new folder for the new version and copy your data/reports and Cumulus.ini files across?

You can start CumulusMX with the -debug parameter to enabling debug and data logging right from the start. Or edit Cumulus.ini (with MX stopped) and add the entries to the [Station] section...
Logging=1
DataLogging=1

I have added enabling logging to the FAQ

You still haven't fixed the dayfile.txt file...

Code: Select all

Error at line 375 of data\dayfile.txt : Input string was not in a correct format.
And you still do not have debug or data logging enabled...

Code: Select all

2020-05-05 10:59:18.982 Debug logging is disabled
2020-05-05 10:59:18.982 Data logging is disabled

Mark
First of all please accept my apologies for calling you Mike!

Being in my dotage, I had not recognised the "-" in place of slash in the line 375 and following few lines. :groan:
Corrected that.
Moved the 3076 installation to a different drive (It was placing the logs in the old 3049 Diags :roll: )
Seemed to have lost a bit of data but I think I'll find again soon :clap:
All is working fine again now.
Many thanks for all your help and patience with an old duffer.
Regards
John

PLEASE IGNORE THIS POST

If you just corrected the lines, the '-' could be back tomorrow. The problem might be your date format has changed in your upgrade. Cumulus expects the format to stay the same throughout the file.

You are using Windows, so control panel is place that gives you opportunity to edit date format to what you want. Settings adopts a fixed format based on selected locale.

This likely won't be the problem, as the issue is with 8 lines in the dayfile.txt which date back to September 2015. AFAICT all 1600+ entries since then have correct date format. So John just needs to edit those 8 lines and all should be okay.
