This is my first attempt at using CumulusMX, so I placed CumulusMX folder in drive c and added my Cumulus.ini file from Cumulus (build1099), then ran CumulusMX.exe which resulted in the following message(see attachment cumulusMX error report.txt), this report said to post a copy
of the MXdiags folder as a zip folder(it is attached), looking at MXdiags folder content I noticed that it was using com 1 which is wrong, my Cumulus.ini says com 3, which is right. Any suggestion on what fixes I need?
Thanks

Re: CumulusMX setup error
MX just uses the value set in Cumulus.ini under...
[Station]
Comportname=COM3
Can you definitely confirm that value is in your file?

Re: CumulusMX setup error
In the recent reorganisation of the forums (blame me I requested that), one of the posts about swapping from Cumulus 1 to MX remains in the release announcements for earlier versions of MX (it is labelled FAQ), so it is not surprising you missed that information and therefore missed out an important step in trying MX.
The two flavours use different entries in Cumulus.ini, and so you need to specify that COM 3 differently as the two quotes below show.
I have added this important item to the wiki at https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Cumulus_MX#Ch ... us_1_to_MX, thank you for raising it, hopefully we can stop other people having same issue.
As Mark says attribute name is Comport:
Easiest way to change is using Settings menu of the MX admin interface. Select Staion settings, find item labelled Serial port name.

for MX. In Cumulus 1 the attribute name was Port:
If you did not make that change, MX won't know how to connect.Port=3
