Website Not Updating.

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Website Not Updating.

Post by Phil23 »

Hi All,

My site has been down since 6:21pm yesterday & I'm at a loss as to why.

The MX Diags are basically showing this repeatedly....
(Below log was after I restarted everything before 8pm).

Other services are working Ok & I can access my site with Filezilla & upload & download.

I notice the zero byte files below, and if I delete them with FileZilla, they recreate at the next upload.
(deleted them just before beginning this post).
They will remain there with that 5:50am time stamp unless I delete them again.
Any thoughts?

Thanks

Phil.

Have you got 'Active FTP Mode' enabled?

Will further add this update,

I just now (6:15am) updated it successfully by uploading all the HTM & JSON file from the local C:\CumulusMX\Web to /public_html/weather with FileZilla.

That pretty much eliminates it being a Hosting Issue I'd assume.

That is main suggestion at FAQ: https://cumuluswiki.org/a/FAQ#My_web_pages_are_empty although Steve did not write that for json files, the other suggestions there talks about encoding, but you have eliminated that by

So it is definitely something about the FTP settings in Cumulus. The Active is most likely, but you can also try removing rename that you must have enabled and enabling delete before upload.

Well normally I'd say no,

But on checking the settings it was turned on; not sure how it got that way.
6:01pm it did a scheduled restart & all the pages updated up at 6:20pm, & Realtime.txt kept going a few minutes after it.

Then Just stopped.

Turned off Active FTP mode & now it's running as usual.
Mystery is as to how it got turned on.

Thanks all,

It's back up & my stress levels are now lowering.....

Cheers

Phil.

I have also just noticed that my Cumulus Utils files are not uploading either.

I do them with Win's FTP & a batch file.
But even just trying to upload from the prompt fails as well (FTP prompt that is).

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks

Phil.

Yes, it's the same problem. Microsoft command line ftp client only uses active mode. It doesn't do passive mode. Has the company that hosts your site started enforcing passive mode FTP recently?
Phil23 wrote: Tue 28 Apr 2020 4:20 amas was the case earlier I have no issue uploading the files required with FileZilla.
That is because FileZilla can use passive mode FTP.

Who would know???

Support with them can be painful; They rarely read emails properly.

Might look at redoing my script with WinSCP, I recall it's got a very good CLI for doing the same sort of stuff.

Cheers.
