Change battery in Davis Vantage Vue

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Change battery in Davis Vantage Vue

Post by madsandrup »

Hello,

I'm soon going to change the battery in my Vue. I can stop CMX, but the logger in console will continue to store readings.
Is it possible to avoid "fake" readings to be logged during the maintenance?

Regards,
Mads

The ISS battery can be changed without interference or interruption of transmission.

The Vue console can run on batteries, wall power or both, so changing the battery while still plugged in will not affect reception. From the Davis Vue manual:
Console Maintenance Changing Batteries
If the message, LOW CONSOLE BATTERIES appears in the Weather Center, replace the batteries.
1. In order to avoid losing any stored weather data, plug in the AC adapter before removing the batteries. Note: If you cannot plug in the AC adapter, enter Setup Mode by pressing and releasing 2ND and pressing SETUP. Entering Setup Mode makes sure the station isn’t writing any data to memory when power is removed.
2. Remove the battery cover located on the back of the console by pressing down on the two latches at the top of the cover.
3. In the top battery compartment, insert a fingertip between the battery and the notched end of the compartment and remove the battery.
4. Repeat the process for the batteries in the bottom battery compartment.
5. Install the new batteries. (See “Installing Batteries” on page 3.)
6. Replace the battery cover and remove the AC power adapter, if desired.

Enjoy,
Paul
