Cumulus Support

Installation just involves downloading the release zip file and extracting its contents into your Cumulus installation location. To be safe, I would make copies of your data folder, your web folder and your Cumulus.ini file first. There's no reason you can't just delete your existing installation and replace with the new - but if you're going to do that, make sure you take copies of the folders and file I just mentioned.

Would the build still show as b3043 on the Cumulus software running in browser? Tried replacing it twice now and even got some weird data 940mm of rain today and last week was -10c

I just tried deleting the hole Cumulus folder on the pi with filezilla, but it will not completely delete due to the backup file in Cumulus folder. Any way I can force the deletion and just replace the Cumulus.ini file to get rid of the corrupt/inaccurate history data?

It should show 3047.
The folder should be deletable. Was Cumulus still running at the time?
If you're not fussed about your data then just copy Cumulus.ini somewhere else, blow away your install, then unzip 3047 and copy Cumulus.ini into the new installation.

That's what I've done wrong Cumulus was running. Without messing up the auto boot instructions, if there a command to just stop cumulus running so I can replace the software reboot and it automatically start running again? Thanks Freddie.

How do you start Cumulus? Do you use a start-up script? If so, which one?

I use the method in the first post on this thread by ExperiMentor. Which does say how to reboot with Cumulus not running, just I'm not confident in where to apply the text in the command line.

Okay so it looks like it is run from Cron on system start. If you edit the Cron table:

sudo crontab -e

and put a # at the start of the line "@reboot..."

Save the crontab and reboot.

When your pi restarts then Cumulus will no longer be running. You can then do your upgrade. Then edit the Cron table again by removing the # and saving. Then reboot and Cumulus will restart.

Deleted the CumulusMX directory and sub directory with backup files after stopping Cumulus MX process. Used 'sudo rm -rf Cumulus MX' command and it did the trick.

However after installing the new build and restarting Cumulus in pi, its still showing as build 3043 at the bottom of the browser screen. I have notice the new 'Edit' tab along the top which I presume was something added to the new build version. Tried another browser and still "Cumulus MX 3.0.0 b3043" The only file I have added to the new Cumulus directory is the Cumulus.ini file.

I have the latest version of Windows 10 and I am trying to operate Cumulus MX on the Raspberry Pi zero W.
I followed the instructions but when I plug the power into to pi no lights and my router cannot see the pi.
The strange thing is that the two new files SSH and wpa_supplicant.conf that i typed as per instructions are on the SD card on the PC but after putting the card into the pi and plugging in the power if i then look at the SD card again on the PC they have disappeared!?
I have typed my SSID and SSID password in between the quotation marks. Is this correct?

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

My Raspberry pi Zero w was faulty. I purchased another one and everything is now working OK.

Yes, it's correct to put your SSID and password in between the quotation marks.

Yes, it is expected that the two new files SSH and wpa_supplicant.conf disappear as soon as the Pi is booted for the first time. The Pi moves them from the Windows-visible directory to the place they really belong.

Have an SD card that allows CMX to run OK on a Pi3B+. But the same SD card throws mono errors when trying to start CMX on a Pi0W.

I had it in my head that cards should be interchangeable between 3 and 0, but maybe that's not automatically true? Is there anything that I might have done wrong when preparing the SD card or, specifically, when installing mono? Maybe there's some particular aspect of mono configuration that requires mono to be installed on a Pi0 if it's to be used on a Pi0?

Since they are based on different CPUs I very much doubt the SD cards are interchangeable. I use Kodi on a PI3B and tried to use it on a Zero and had to load different versions of the software, so my guess is there is different support code for the Quad Core Arm Cortex to the Single Core Arm 1176.
