Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Do you use it with USB or Serial connection?

You have a data logger in the Vantage Pro 2. These usually send data to a USB plug.
  • If your model of Pi has a full size USB socket, just plug it in to the Pi
If your VP2 data logger has a serial connection, you'll need a serial to USB converter, then as above.

My setup is a Davis VP2 with a Data Logger and a RP3. Even though the the data logger comes with a USB cable you want to set the connection type to serial. If you set it to USB using the Davis Weather Link software change it back to serial in Weatherlink. Then set the Davis VP2 in CumulusMX to serial connection and the serial port name. On the RP the name is typically /dev/ttyUSB0
