Davis VLL Rain and CumulusHi

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Davis VLL Rain and CumulusHi

Post by richy76 »

Hi all.

Sorry if this has already been covered. I couldn't see it anywhere.

I have a Davis Vue and Davis weather link live. Cumulus is reading the data perfectly from the WLL via IP except rain data. I can see from my Davis console that it is recording the rain levels.

I have looked thought all the settings and can not find anything wrong. I am using 3.4.0 b3064. I have also confirmed the sensor ids and all looks good.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks.

Rich, I just had another user with the same issue and it turned out to be his firewall on the server running CumulusMX.

When you view the data in the dashboard, does the wind data update every 3 seconds? Or once a minute :(

If it is not updating every 3 seconds then Cumulus is not seeing the broadcast data from the WLL - which is the only place it gets the rain data from.

You need to make sure that UDP port 22222 is open inbound on your computer.

The latest build - 3065 - now checks for broadcasts not being received and adds an error entry in the MXdiags log file if it hasn't received a packet for 30 seconds.

Great - you could use the catch-up to rewind your data, and add in the missing rainfall.
