Customisation CUMX - Dahsboard Improvement Suggestion

Hi Mark

Could I suggest, what I would call an improvement, for the CUMX dashboard file index.html?

The dashboard now shows solar in the bottom righthand block. I, as I would suspect many others, don't have solar so this block currently conveys no information.

For me living in Brisbane, especially in summertime, the apparent temperature is always a goto statistic and this is not currently shown in the dashboard.

Could you consider a programming change to have the dashboard show apparent temperature information (along the lines now shown in the temperature block) when no solar information is detected.

Thanks

Keith

I've actually looked at the gauges page a few times, thinking it could look a little more balance if the UV & Solar were swapped.

Personal preference for symmetry though.

Taking a number of actions when no solar and/or UV is available is on the todo list.

But cosmetic changes are down at the bottom of my list ;)

Absolutely, Mark!

Editing index.html (or any of the other web interface files) is a user activity. We've been given a great starting point. Users should learn some html editing than play with the interface to their heart's content. Or borrow layouts from others.

Hi Mark

Please drop my request off your to do list. I figured out how to make the change to have the dashboard include the "Apparent Temperature" details in lieu of Solar/UV.

As I have posted in a reply to another topic in this sub-forum, there is a need for caution in changing anything within the MX user interface, but if people are changing it ....

How to remove the values, but not the block is described at https://cumuluswiki.org/a/Cumulus_MX#Re ... ar_Figures

If you share how you did it, then other people who might like to see apparent temperature could change their dashboard.

Have you worked out how to do this? I suspect it is just transposing one block of code with another? Again if how to do it is given here (or in Wiki) others could also change their page without waiting for any developer to do cosmetic changes.

Hi all

Always happy to share with anyone when I know there is need. The approach is a "belt and braces" one without any sophisticated programming.

As always, before making any changes on the basis of this post, backup first.

What I have done is:

Index.html: found the tags for Apparent temperature and created a block for that, deleted the solar etc block and rearranged the presentation.
now.html: simply deleted the blocks related to solar/sunshine refer lines 269-296
gauges.html: Similar to above (lines 220-237). Repositioning of remaining cloud baseblock to centre is a WIP - watch this space.
charts.html: similar to above (lines 136-141).
todayyest.html: deleted solar UV index. Could do with repositioning blocks - again WIP.

A zip of the current state of the above files on my system is attached.

Happy to discuss.

Best wishes

Keith

I did swap those two gauges not long after my original post (5 min??), but it's back the way it was now as that page has been updated.

It's just a matter of swapping the two blocks of code relating to each gauge.

Don't know line numbers etc & pointless to state them as they will change as that file varies over time.

I'm no html expert (far from it), but the key is taking time to identify where each code block starts & finishes before moving anything.
And if it fails, just fall back to the original file from the distribution.

Edit:, Lol forgot I posted images of the change above...

All modifications in the interface .html files has to be made with CMX STOPPED!
For example:
Capture.PNG
In now.html it works, don't know if in 'todayyest.html' the modifications will remain!
