MX with Weatherlink Live

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Interesting, I had a -17.8 temperature reading yesterday! There was no error in the log, so I assumed it was a glitch in the matrix. But for you to get exactly the same reading is interesting. Was that data during "live" running, or during a historic catch-up?

Also interesting -17.8C = 0F

Maybe the WLL was returning a spurious zero value (being American in works in F)? Anyway I have turned data logging on now so if it happens again I can see if it is MX or WLL generating the bad data.

Not 100% sure but I think it was during a catch up, as I shut it all down to see the catch-up work.

I didn't notice the figure straight away.

Noticed this too, assume this will populate when the day rolls over ?

Yes, you need to log at least one rollover to get the daily figures.

If you have a Pro account though you can download any historic data you have in MX.
  1. Clear out the data folder (keep it safe somewhere - just in case:) )
  2. Create a new today.ini file in the data folder, add the following content (changing the dates/time to when you want the download to start)...

    Code: Select all

    [General]
    Date=10/04/2012
    Timestamp=10/04/2012 10:00:00
    CurrentYear=2012
    CurrentMonth=4
    CurrentDay=10
  3. Edit Cumulus.ini and set the StartDate= to the date you want to download the data from.
  4. Start Cumulus, it should then download everything in wl.com from that date, then carry on live running.

Thanks again Mark,

Must say I'm pretty impressed with MX thus far.

Would you believe though, there was another -17.8 in the data and also on a Friday (the first day of uploads to WWL)!

Yep - I have found the error in processing historic data. Sorry, but the fix will have to wait until the next release - in testing at the moment.

No worries Mark, thanks again, although I might ask what the most time efficient way of updating the associated data would be, once the fix is available.

And whilst I'm here, I feel I must apologise to Dave for hijacking his thread ! :oops:

As the new version should be available this weekend (famous last words!) and you only have a small amount of data, I'd start again, and do the rewind to download your historic data from wl.com.

Cheers Mark - I thought that after I posted, good to have it confirmed.

I’ll keep my eyes open for the shiny new version.
