Hi Steve,
I got W8681 in August and all seemed fine till severe weather this week.
Cumulus shows instances of wind speed and gust both reaching 56.4 mph and log records show this figure.
Easy weather is showing higher wind speeds and gusts to 68mph and also shows this on easyweather log.
Cumulus is loaded in own directory and wind gauge set to 80mph with no multipliers.
What have I set wrongly?
Thanks

Re: Wind speed and gust at max of 56.4mph
I'm guessing this isn't really a Cumulus 2 issue, so moved it. But actually, the same answer would apply to Cumulus 2.
If you're running Cumulus and Easyweather alternately, then you will never get the same wind speeds in both. When either of them are using data from the logger, which they will do for the periods they weren't running, then they will only get the snapshots that are in the logger. If the peaks don't occur at the time the data gets written to the logger, they will not be seen by the program that wasn't running at the time.

Re: Wind speed and gust at max of 56.4mph
Hello Steve,
Thanks for quick response.
I have been using Cumulus 1.8.7 build 819 and only switched temporarily to easy weather when I suspected wind speed was higher than 56mph. It seemed coincidental that several readings were the same at 56.4mph over three days.
Thanks for quick response.

Re: Wind speed and gust at max of 56.4mph
Sorry - I didn't notice the significance of that figure! The real explanation is that there was an error in the unofficial spec I was working from, in the wind speed area. This is fixed in 1.8.8, if you want to give it a try (note that it won't correct your existing data).

Re: Wind speed and gust at max of 56.4mph
Thanks Steve,
I upgraded to 1.8.8 after your post and recorded gust of 72.7mph to-day.
Now increased the wind gauge to 100mph!
Thanks

Re: Wind speed and gust at max of 56.4mph
Are you saying that the wind gauge automatically adjusts its maximum reading depending on the measured wind speed?Spelve wrote:Thanks Steve,

If this is the case, is there an upper limit to how high the gauge will read?

Spelve, do you have a screenshot of Cumulus during this event?Spelve wrote:I upgraded to 1.8.8 after your post and recorded gust of 72.7mph to-day.

What kind of weather event was it? Thunderstorm gust?
