difference between 192.168.1.100 & localhost

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

difference between 192.168.1.100 & localhost

Post by ruggb »

I modified the interface html files for CMX on my computer.
my computer's IP is 192.168.1.100
If I enter 192.168.1.100:8998 the interface I get is the one I modified
If I enter localhost:8998 the interface I get is the original unmodified interface.

I'm confused again!!!!!

I thought my IP and localhost were the same thing?
AND since the interface files are modified, where is localhost getting the original files from?

now when I keep playing with it everything is changing - I can't even describe it.

browser may have cache the files and thats what your seeing, restart or clear cache and see what happens ( i think with chrome hold shift key while refreshing page will do it)
Yes localhost and the host ip would be the same just like 127.0.0.1
