Cumulus Support

The Cumulus software seems to run into a problem when the date changes. As the time changes to 00:00, the following error message pop up: "Cumulus.exe - An error occured in Cumulus" and then the software just freezes.
Upon cliking "Close application" the program terminates. Restarting the program it works well until the next date change (at 00:00). Then the program freezes again. Sometimes computer restart is required to reset the program.
Saving "Save bug report" gives a long list of information, including (for example):
exception number : 1
exception class : EInOutError
exception message : I/O error 103.

Another problem I have is that the "View menu - This month" does not have anything for November. Further, "This Period" - does not have any data when November dates are selected. The data for previous months is available in both menus.

The weather station I have is LaCrosse WS-2355 with Cumulus 1.8.8 build 869

Yes, the idea is that you give me the bug report file, as it gives me information to help diagnose the problem

The EInOutError occurs when Cumulus tries to write to a file but it is in use by another process - quite often this is anti-virus software or similar. The fact that this happens at midnight points to the file in question being dayfile.txt. Do you have something that runs at midnight that might be accessing the file?

The 'This month' display uses data from dayfile.txt, so that suggest that Cumulus hasn't been able to write to the file since the beginning of November. It's also possible that dayfile.txt has some sort of corruption.

Please attach the bugreport.txt file, and your dayfile.txt file.

Thank you for prompt reply. I found the problem - the "dayfile.txt" had an empty line in the data file.
Both "This month" and "This period" displays work now and the "Cumulus.exe - error" has not happened since the fix.

I have been very happy with the Cumulus-software and would like to see it translated in Finnish, too. This would be helpful for the numerous users here in Finland. Further, expansion to include Peet Bros weather station would offer additional demand for the Cumulus-software.
