Bug Report - Data from device not Downloading

I have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and everything has been running OK but today aftter a reboot the downlading of data from the device has stopped working, it just hangs.

I have attached the bug report

The USB component is crashing trying to interrogate the device, but I can't say why. Does the station appear in device manager? Does it still work with easyweather?

The program is still crashjing but it is working in Cumulus 2. I haven't tried EasyWeather

The data is being picked up by Cumulus 2 OK and i can see it, is there any way i can get it into the monthly log data for Cumulus 1.8.7.

Getting the data from the Cumulus 2 database into Cumulus 1 format is possible but not easy. You'd have to write a program that uses the correct SQL to retrieve the data and then format it correctly.

I can't explain why the Cumulus 1 code can't drive it OK. I'm using Windows 7 and it works fine. You could try running it elevated (as Administrator). Watch out for where it puts the data if you do that, though.

I have reinstalled the Cumulus 1 and with no existing data it does reload from the device. I think the error is somehwere in the ini file or the data. The one thing that does seem strange is the date format.

If I can't fathom it out, can you tell me where the data is stored in Cumulus 2

That doesn't tie in with the crash for the bug report above; it hadn't got as as far as looking at any of the data (but had looked at cumulus.ini to determine the type of weather station). Maybe you were getting different crash?

In Cumulus 2, the data is stored in an SQLite database in the Appdata\Local\Cumulus folder in your user - if you look at the first line of the trace.txt file that Cumulus 2 puts in your desktop, that will confirm it.

Don't know whay but Cumulus 2 stopped working early this morning so I rebooted and just to see what happened I downloaded and ran Cumulus 1.8.8

It ran OK and 'eventually' downloaded two months worth of data from the unit.

It now seems to run OK, incidentally so does Cumulus 2!!!

The only new thing is that there now appears to be historic data for 2008, a period before I bought the weather station!!

The September 2008 weather is not the same as the September 2009 data so it is not a duplicate. I assume that I can remove it by deleting the files but just wondered if it took some generic data and created the files?

That's a bit worrying - I hope I haven't somehow managed to include some data files in the installer that will overwrite people's data!

Edit: No, I've just tried it and it has no data in the installer. I don't know where that file came from. It was created as a result of running 1.8.8 for the first time? It's timestamped today? When does your real data actually start?
