Cumulus Just Shut Down.

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Cumulus Just Shut Down.

Post by Phil23 »

Just made an observation.

Watching TV at about 8:20am & the power dropped out. The weather laptop is in view, it's battery not good, but it stayed up, the outage was less than a minute.

When I looked at the laptop, I saw Cumulus shutting down. Re-started it & its all Ok, but don't understand why it exited.

This is the last few lines of the diags file.

Phil.

did your weather station go down during the power outage? that may have triggered it.
Dont see anything in the log you posted that would have any effect looks normal to me

The console would have lost power, as would the small switch the laptop's plugged into.

It's a Davis VP2, so has battery power as well.

Internet connectivity was also down for a few minutes, maybe while the exchange recovered.

As far as the rest of my gear is concerned, the servers, router & main switch are all on a 1kV UPS, so would have been nothing changing there.

Phil

Edit:-

Just pulled the power on those 3 devices & nothing happened.

Maybe the laptop previously lost power long enough to initiate a sleep or shutdown & then changed it's mind when the power restored.

Well the good part is cumulus would have pulled the missing data from the davis logger when you reconnected.
Maybe with the power outage the usb had a hick-up or some unknown windows issue that caused it to stop.

if your running your Laptop as the cumulus server then I would suggest that Hibernation and sleep modes should not exist at all.

make sure your Power settings are set to high performance and NO power savings or settings are applied to any device.
