WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
Hello
I recently installed CumulusMX on a new Raspberry Pi 3. Everything works fine however I'm not receiving any data from the Oregon Scientific WRM100. I searched out the Aug 27, 2012 post on this topic and reset the weather station, rebooted the RP but did not delete any files within CumulusMX (I believe it was suggested in the Aug 27, 2012 to delete a data file).
What else can I do to start receiving data from my weather station?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
Do you have libudev0 installed? What version of Mono are you using? If you look in the MX dags file, is Cumulus saying that the station is not found?

Hi Steve.
Here are the answers to your questions:
From CLI
libudev0 is already the newest version.
Mono JIT compiler version 4.6.2
I've inclued a copy on the latest MX dag file. Is it possible the USB port didn't auto mount?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
Michael

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
I think that version of Mono is one of the versions which won't work with USB stations.

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
Hi Steve
I found this when Googling solutions to the "mono" issue. This quote comes from a post of yours dated Jan 5, 2015 @ 2:35am. "Mono 4.2 is known to not work with Cumulus MX with USB stations, for reasons currently unknown. Some other versions of Mono may have the same issue."
So what do I do to downgrade my version of "mono" or what steps do I need to take in order to get the WRM to be recognized by the RaspberryPi?
Thanks for you help.
PS the Raspberry Pi was set up using the steps found here: https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.p ... 67#p107130
I'm surprised that the instructions would allow for a version of "mono" (that didn't work) to be installed.

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
I didn't write those instructions so can't comment. But I do know that because new versions of Mono are constantly being made available, that it is possible for the same instructions to install a different version of Mono if a new version has been made available. This is not my fault, nor the fault of the person who kindly provided those instructions, if this is indeed the case.King Kong wrote: I'm surprised that the instructions would allow for a version of "mono" (that didn't work) to be installed.
There are instructions on the forum somewhere for removing Mono and installing a version which works. Version 3.2.8, which is the default on some distributions, works fine as long as you don't use commas for decimals. I believe that 4.0.x works OK, but I can't remember for certain. I am currently on the road with limited facilities so cannot provide the same level of support that I used to do.

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
I am running mono 3.2.8 on Raspberry PI with commas for decimals and as far as I can tell, everything is OK.Version 3.2.8, which is the default on some distributions, works fine as long as you don't use commas for decimals
Default "locale" is en_GB.UTF-8 but I've also sv_SE.UTF-8 installed.
Starting CumulusMX with
Code: Select all
sudo mono CumulusMX.exe -lang sv-SE@King Kong,
What does your /etc/apt/sources.list look like?

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
Thanks to all the responses. I'll get to work on removing and re-installing a working version of "mono".
Rogerthn had a question about the source list I'm using; here it is.
cat mono-xamarin.list
deb http://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian wheezy main
cat raspi.list
deb http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/ jessie main ui
# Uncomment line below then 'apt-get update' to enable 'apt-get source'
#deb-src http://archive.raspberrypi.org/debian/ jessie main ui

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
It might be possible to avoid a complete re-install
Assuming that your /etc/apt/sources.list is like min
Remove /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mono-xamarin.list or move it
Now try
If the result starts with
Assuming that your /etc/apt/sources.list is like min
Trydeb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi

sudo apt-get remove mono-complete
sudo apt-get autoremove

sudo apt-get updateCode: Select all
apt-cache show mono-completePackage: mono-complete

Re: WRM100 - Not Receiving Data
Hello
Sorry for taking a little longer to get back to the forum.
The instructions rogerthn provided worked. I can now run by Raspberry Pi and collect data from the weather station.
Thanks again for the help.
