Fine offset - cumulus rain data

Post by ascarano »

I work with latest version of Cumulus (1.8.7) and a Fine Offset Weather Statio.
Sometime rain data seem tobe wrong....like now. Cumulus shows rainfall today = 28.5 mm, and month rainfall = 28.5 mm...but it is so wrong !!!
Today did not rain...and this month rainfall i eqal to 87,9.....
My station work properly (I've checked it with EasyWeather...)....what happened?

Help please...
Many thanks....

The rain counter in these stations does seem to 'jump' sometimes for no reason. If you upload your October data file I'll have a look to confirm that's what's happened. You can correct the data by editing the files, but it's best to confirm the cause first.

I think that if the "jump" exists it would be present even in Easy Weather ....
I hope you could fix this problem...

Many thanks,
Antonio

You have a corruption in the file:

22/10/09;02.50;20,9;95;20,1;6,1;17,3;141;0,0;0,0;1009,4;818,4;20,8;61;12,2;20,9
22/10/09;03.00;21,0;95;20,2;7,2;25/10/09;13.00;21,5;74;16,6;15,8;40,3;2;0,0;28,5;1004,9;846,9;22,6;67;23,4;21,5
25/10/09;13.10;21,9;73;16,7;13,3;45,4;13;0,0;28,5;1005,0;846,9;22,7;67;23,4;21,9

You have three days missing, and the last line for 22/10/09 is incomplete. I don't know how this could happen unless your PC crashed at about that time, or you had a power failure. When did you last start up Cumulus? If you have a backup (in the backups folder) from some time just before this corruption, the best solution would be stop Cumulus and copy the contents of the backup into the data folder, and start Cumulus again.

I don't know more than this....I think the problem was a power line failure...but... why Cumuls show wrong data? Where it read that wrong data? If the PC will crash for some reasons how I could now this? How I can "repare" Cumuls data?
The backup folder dose not contain data for the intervall during it is turned off.....

Cumulus is showing the wrong rainfall because in its data files the rain counter jumps from 818.4 to 846.9 (28.5 mm), because of the missing days. The backup folder doesn't contain the missing data, it's a snaphot of the data files each time it starts up. If you reset the current data to one of the snapshots, it will download the data from the logger from the point of the snapshot to catch up to the present.
