Correcting monthly record rainfall data

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Correcting monthly record rainfall data

Post by liddelljs »

Hi all,
I've been tearing my hair out trying to correct some rainfall data and hoping someone can help me. I've been through the wiki postings several times but hasn't helped me. On the monthly records web page, I have some incorrect rainfall data (highest rain rate, highest daily rainfall, highest monthly rainfall) for a month prior to the current month (September). I have edited the dayfile.txt to ensure that the daily data is all correct for the month in question. A restart of MX didn't fix the problem so I wondered whether these totals were sourced from the ini file for the particular month. I changed the incorrect data in the September ini file and restarted MX but the erroneous data still remains. Where are these totals derived from?

Cheers

Cumulus only calculates the rain total for this month when it starts up, not for previous months. The all-time monthly records are held in monthlyalltime.ini - MX has no editors to help with this like Cumulus 1 does, so you will just need to stop MX and edit the file manually in a text editor.

The sections in the file end in a two digit number, so the rain records for September are in section [Rain09].

ah - many thanks Steve. Now I can see where the values are held, no problems editing. Many thanks for the response. Trust the travels are going well.
