Perhaps the home-made screen is having some sort of effect?

This would certainly account for gross inaccuracies from the sensors.
I've now sealed all around the plugs with some soft putty type decorator's filler. Easy to get off if need be but keeps out any water.
I'm not sure if your transmitter box and cover is the same as mine on the WH1080 but if so it does seem to be woefully inadequate in stopping water ingress in heavy weather conditions.

Right, In light of the above suggestions to the issue, I In between decorating today, Packed the homemade screen with plastic carrier bags and plenty of duck tape around the edges, to ensure the transmitter unit was completely sealed off from the possible rainfall.
