Can't see station

Hi I've just installed the latest version of CumulusMX on IOS Sierra.I'm using a usb 2 to serial connector with a ws2300 weather station. This setup works fine in windows xp running under parallels desktop on the mac. On CumulusMX I can't see the ws2300. I've tried every com port I can think of to no avail,. It just doesn't seem to be getting any data through. So I've used com3 which is what is set in the old version under windows xp. I've also tried all the ports shown by parallels as the serial port can be anything up to 7 depending on which usb it is plugged via. I've also tried the addresses listed for the serial adapter founder under about this mac. I think I must just be missing something fairly basic but I've no Idea what it is.
Regards

If you mean that you are running MX directly under OS X rather than a hosted Windows, then you need to use the correct form for the serial port name, i.e. not COMx etc, which is only for Windows. See the instructions and/or FAQ for what to do under Linux and other Unix-type OS.

Hi thanks for that I found a terminal command that actually lists the port being used by the serial to usb2 device.
Now I think I've got a problem with UTF8. It says unable to accept UTF8 in the log.Does the attached log mean my webhoast doesn't support it. The previous Cumulus on windows worked fine and had UTF8 ticked.
I keep trying different combinations in the extra web files. But my realtimegaugesT.txt file etc don't appear to be being processed as I never get a minus the T version on my remote site. I think I've tried everything I found in the previous posts etc, which is why I'm beginning to wonder if my webhoast has a problem
Many thanks Paul

I think the UTF8 message is unimportant.
The files seem to be uploading OK - can you confirm that your site is updating with the exception of the realtimegauges.txt file? There's no mention of it at all in the ftp log - the only reason I can think of for that would be if you hadn't selected 'ftp' for that file. You also need 'process' ticked, and Weather/realtimegauges.txt for the remote file.

Thanks for the reply. I'm confused as I think I've done everything and tried various combination of parameters. It updates sometimes but doesn't seem to all the time! I've copied parameter settings from my old Cumulus config. They are currently set as per the following screen shots.

You're using Windows-style paths (with backslashes for separators) for the local files in the extra web files settings. Macs don't use backlashes for directory separators.

Hi Steve Thanks for that it's been corrected but I still seem to have something wrong somewhere.
www.listers.talktalk.net/Weather/gauges-ss.htm still doesn't have the gauges. Log attached.
thanks for your help
Paul

Hi Steve I've just FTPed evening in the directory Weather from TALKTALK back onto my mac and everything works fine there! I think this must point to a problem with TALKTALK what do you think.?

Yes, looks like an issue with talktalk, or perhaps some kind of permissions problem with the directories in your web space:
