Consumer Guarantees Act should cover you. After all, you do expect the device to last longer than 6 months. Try quoting the Act at them

There's a chance the USB socket on the board inside the console has come adrift or has dry joints. Repairable but if it's under warranty it's best to return it to the dealer. This often happens if the USB lead is plugged in every day or so. I leave mine permanently connected.
However there are other problems with these units; they can fail. My first one only lasted a few hours before it went wrong; quickly replaced by the dealer; I guess it's because they are a cheap model.
