WH1080 not communicating with PC
Hello,
Just set up my WH1080 with EasyWeather software. Unfortunately the base station won't communicate with my PC. Any advice from experienced users out there?
Also, I'd like to switch over to SandaySoft after hearing such positive reviews!
Thanks,
Brian

Re: WH1080 not communicating with PC
Good Evening, Welcome to the Forum
Right, First things first, Shutdown Easyweather and Unplug the Base Station for the moment.
Next, Please download and install the Lastest Build or Release of Cumulus.
Next, plug in the Base Station and Launch Cumulus.
You now need to Configure Cumulus to your station. You will need to select 'Fine Offset' in the station type, Please do not use the Easyweather Option.
You will need to configure Cumulus to use your preferred units and you are Basically Setup.
I would at this point, restart Cumulus. On restart, you should see Cumulus Download your Data stored in the Base Station and then see Data appear on the Display.
If this fails to work, get back to me
If you have or want to setup a Website, this can be done by following the Advice given in the Cumulus Help File and if you get stuck or want further advice, you can post a message to the forum and We will try and help you as best we can
Best of Luck and Hope to hear from you soon.

Re: WH1080 not communicating with PC
Right, Thanks for screenshots,
1.Is the USB Cable Secure between Console and USB Port?
2.Have you plugged in a Joystick?
3.You could try, shutting down Cumulus, Unplugging the USB Cable from the Console and then Replugging after say 15seconds and then Restart Cumulus.

I would recommend a restart of your PC.
Then Try Cumulus again and let me know the result please
Thanks

Re: WH1080 not communicating with PC
The files in the diags folder give some information about what's happening at start up - have a look in there, or zip up the folder and attach it here. I suspect that your station is simply not being detected on the USB.

Re: WH1080 not communicating with PC
It looks like you have some sort of connection problem; the station isn't present on the USB. Do you have a different cable you could try, or a different USB port to plug it into?

Re: WH1080 not communicating with PC
For what its worth, my fine offset 1083 also no longer talks to my pc.
The unit makes a quiet "clunk" when plugged in. I have tried 3 pc's and cannot get it to talk on any of them. I suspect its internal memory drive is kaput after 6 months, not impressed.
I am contemplating how to get marital approval for a Davis Vantage Pro with data logger!

Peter
A 1083 sounds like it came off of Trademe in NZ. Should be a 1 year warranty on it?

Re: WH1080 not communicating with PC
Hi Terry, I actually purchased it from Scientific Sales, and when I realised they were significantly cheaper on TradeMe, I complained and received a refund for the difference in price!
TradeMe sales come with 3 month warranty, Scientific Sales direct purchases have a one year RTB warranty with the original invoice, which I have. I will be returning it as I am quite fond of both it and Cumulas.
The Davis units do sound quite superior though, but i guess thats why you pay so much extra for it. A
