Weatherlink install.

Post by Phil23 »

Hi all,

Just got my Vantage Pro2 up yesterday & have it working fine with CumulusMX.

Wanting to get Weatherlink running though, as I've seen a few say it's useful for configuring the station.
Have just managed to get it installed on the unstable Vista Pro LT I'm about to retire, but refuses to install on my main Win7P laptop.

The install gets to a point, then reports:-

Done a fair bit of searching with no results.
The very first attempt installed the MS Redistributables, but subsequent attempts don't.

The old machine with the successful install is Vista Pro 32 bit & has CumulusMX installed.
The other one I'm attempting is Win7 Pro 64 bit & also has a CumulusMX install.

Have tried running the setup.exe as administrator, but makes no difference.

Have a sneaking suspicion that it's a .NET 3.5 related issue, but the feedback is poor.
Though that it might be that .NET 4.6 being present could be the issue, but that doesn.t fit as the Vista box also has .NET 4.6.

As I mentions I've searched a lot & plenty of other report problems, but there is not definitive fix.

Installing a piece of software shouldn't be such an issue, particularly when you've done it for a living for the past 25 years.

Thanks

Phil.

You have to shut down Cumulus first. Did you do that? They both cannot talk to the datalogger at the same time.

About the only thing Weatherlink is needed for is to set the station elevation, sea level adjusted barometric pressure, and logging interval. Once you do that you don't need it.

Not really relevant, as it's an installation issue, but it wasn't running anyway.

What is not mentioned in any of the searches relating to failed installations of weatherlink, is the CP210x driver.

If an instance of this driver is already present the install will fail as above.
