Continuing Problems with Vantage Vue

I’ve been having problems with my Vantage Vue setup for the last week or two. Firstly with the USB datalogger connected the outside readings were all over the place, humidity reading 3% and temperature not showing. When I disconnected the datalogger the readings on the console were fine.
I have cleaned the datalogger contacts and now the readings are OK but now the datalogger doesn’t store any data. I only get the current data being received when I run the Cumulus weather programme on the PC, the time span when the PC is switched off just shows as an uninterrupted line on the graphs.
I am unsure which is at fault, the console or the datalogger. As I have no access to a second setup I cannot decide what to replace. Any suggestions as to fault finding would be appreciated.

Did you make sure to power off the console when removing and reinstalling the logger?

Why not contact your Reseller or Davis for an official answer?

I have contacted a Davis technician. He said it is unlikely to be the datalogger but I don't want to shell out on a new console and find out he was wrong.
