Download data from weather station after re-install of Cumulus MX.

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Download data from weather station after re-install of Cumulus MX.

Post by Ohlzzon »

Hi ! This summer I bought an WMR-200 and I immediately chose Cumulus MX to be the software to use. I haven't been that much into computers since the 80-ies but I've managed to set all things up correctly using this forum. I'm running CMX on a Raspberry Pie 3 with Rasbian. After 3 weeks I unfortunately suffered a complete memory card crash. Now I've once again got it up and running again.

I have 2 questions motivated from my experience with the MC crash.

1. When I reinstalled Cumulus MX it only presents weather data from the day of reinstallation. My WMR-200 however has data in the log from day I installed the weather station. How do I force Cumulus MX to download all the data in the WMR-200:s log to be used in CMX:s statistics ?

2. Does Cumulus MX save a backup file containing the Cumulus MX:s weather data in the web files / directory at my ISP ? That means where the necessary files for my home page are stored ? If not, would it be possible to include a function that uploads a backup copy to Dropbox (for an example ) once a day ? The purpose is of course not risk losing valuable data in case of a new crash.

You find my Cumulus Web Page at http://www.ohlzzon.st. ( Gauges isn't working yet but I think I've adressed the target for the extra file wrong. )

Thanx for a great software. A donation will arrive when my wallet is re-fueled. / Mats from Sweden.

You can't force Cumulus to do it because that's not how the WMR200 works - it decides what data to send. See this FAQ but note the limitation with the WMR200 - you might be lucky and it might send the data you want, if it does still have it. http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/FAQ#I.E2.8 ... er_station Editing today.ini as described will make sure that Cumulus uses it if it does send it.

Cumulus is not backup software. If you want to take reliable backups - and that is an excellent thing to do - you should use something other than Cumulus to do it.
