Missing NOAA Monthly Report Update

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Missing NOAA Monthly Report Update

Post by oldakerw »

Good afternoon. I started using Ver 3 (MX) again on September 8th and everything appears to be working correctly except it is apparently reporting to NOAA but not leaving an image file on my system using the Cumulus.ini specified file name.

It appears to me it is using the same file name for both annual and monthly reports but in fact the annual is apparently being updated but the monthly is not:

You keep attaching your Cumulus.ini file to your posts - and I keep deleting it. While it useful to see settings from it, it does contain passwords in plain text, so it's not a good idea to post it in its entirety.

You have set your monthly file format thus:

MonthFileFormat="NOAA" yyyymm".txt"

In MX, the string "mm" means the current minute, which is why it becomes "00". The string for the current month is "MM". See the MX main announcement post and the wiki for the strings that you can use, and the differences between Cumulus 1 and MX in this respect.

Very good point on the entirety of .ini, thank you.

Is there a way I can catchup my "NOAA 201609" report now that I fixed the .ini

There's no manual update in MX yet, so the only way to get it to update currently is to wait until after midnight. When you say you have fixed the ini file, did you edit it directly rather than using the Cumulus interface? And if so, did you edit the file with Cumulus stopped?

I stopped the server portion and edited the .ini manually.

The restarted the application and checked via web interface.

Thank you so much again.

New question, is there a way to put the CulumusMx server application in the windows notification area?

It's not part of MX (because it's a cross-platform command-line program that eventually may run as a service). Whether there's any way to do it using some kind of Windows magic, or a third party application, I don't know.
