I wasn't sure where to post this so I created a new topic here.

I like the new phpBB forum upgrade. It is fast and looks good. I know you are busy but it would be nice to have an "Active Topics" link at both the top and the bottom of the page.

I'll have a look to see if there's a way to do this without hacking the code, which I want to avoid.

Personally I would find a quick link to 'unread posts' more convenient ;) :groan:

The following link will take you straight to new posts.

https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/search.php? ... d=newposts

But I agree a single click option on the forum would be ideal.

Yes, me too. I spent a while looking for a setting or an extension to provide this, but couldn't find anything. The only thing I've found is the extension that provides those three links at the top right, but it's limited to three links. There is actually a "Quick link" for unread posts, but I don't think you meant that ;)

The 'portal' thing is pretty good, and it is possible to make that the main page and incorporate the forum list within it, so I might look into doing that (and remove some of the panels to keep it clean).

You're right, I noticed that the 'menu' was called quick links after I posted.

As an aside, in my user control panel I noticed a page called "Remember me" settings. In there were lots (and lots) of stored keys going back to 2010. I assume the forum code has to check all those every time I connect to site. If every user is the same that is quite a bit of overhead. I have deleted mine apart from those in the last month. Is there an automatic clean-up you can enable on the forum to delete them after say six months? That may keep things a bit more efficient - or not :?

Extension installed to move new/active/unread/mine to buttons at top right.

Can't find anything in admin about 'remember me' keys. I don't think it's too much of an overhead.

Edit: Hit the wrong button in the first place

Thanks Steve. The new buttons are perfect. :) It might take a while to break the habit of clicking on quick links though. ;)

I can't see the option to mark posts as "unread" any more?

I believe that was part of a 'mod' in pre-3.1 days. I'll see if there's an equivalent extension for 3.1.

There is an extension for 'mark unread', but it's currently at "RC" stage. Once it becomes verified and approved, I'll install it.
