I don't know if this is a bug or what may be going on. I installed CumulusMX 3040 last night. I can connect to the UI using the server hostname (http://backup:8998), but none of the values load. If I connect by IP, everything works correctly.
Does anyone have any idea why it would behave this way?

Re: UI fully loads by IP, half loads by hostname
I think it's something to do with your setup, but I can't say exactly what. The values are loaded using web sockets (by default) on port 8002, so presumably something is preventing the web socket connection working when you use the host name. As an experiment, you can try switching to using Ajax rather than web sockets - the MX FAQ has information about this.
I don't think it's a bug in MX, but if it is, someone would have to tell me what it's doing wrong before I could consider fixing it.

Re: UI fully loads by IP, half loads by hostname
Setting it to AJAX instead of websockets works.
Is the websockets connection from the client browser to the server? If so, that makes me think it may be firewall related but doesn't explain why an IP works but a hostname doesn't.
I'll play with some settings and see if I can come up with anything more helpful. May have to see what's going on with wireshark.

The client initiates the web sockets connection, and then data is 'pushed' from the MX 'server'.
