Davis Vantage Pro2 - No Rain Data

Topics about the Beta trials up to Build 3043, the last build by Cumulus's founder Steve Loft. It was by this time way out of Beta but Steve wanted to keep it that way until he made a decision on his and Cumulus's future.

Davis Vantage Pro2 - No Rain Data

Post by johnnieblows »

Hello,

I'm currently trialling Cumulus MX build 3039 on Windows 7 x64, connecting via USB to a Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus.

Having just rained, the Davis console is now displaying 1.4mm daily rain. However the Cumulus dashboard and logs, and the Jul16log file are showing nothing.

Opening Cumulus 1.9.4 and the WeatherLink application, both are registering the rainfall expected.

Is there something that I've overlooked when configuring the device / Cumulus MX?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!

If you zip up the MX diags folder and attach it, I'll take a look.

Your station is apparently sending zero for it's annual rain total - that's the counter which Cumulus uses to determine the rainfall figures. It was zero as of 1630 today:

2016-07-22 16:30:00.345 Writing today.ini, LastUpdateTime = 22/07/2016 16:30:00 raindaystart = 0 rain counter = 0

There are a number of errors in the log files which suggest that you have multiple programs running at the same time with your station? For example:

2016-07-22 16:18:13.144 Error at line 0 of data\Jul16log.txt : The process cannot access the file 'C:\Users\Administrator\Downloads\CumulusMXDist3039\CumulusMX\data\Jul16log.txt' because it is being used by another process.

Or perhaps you are doing something with the log file at the same time that Cumulus is trying to access it?

If you turn on data logging for a few minutes (see https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=12991), Cumulus will log the actual data that it's receiving from the station, so i can confirm that it's getting zero for the annual total, and see if there's anything else odd in there.

Hi Steve,

Yes - I had the file open to see what data was being recorded at that time.

I've attached the latest MXdiag following turning on logging.

It looks like you didn't turn on data logging.
